anyways! ever since i installed the turbo on the car i've been struggling to keep cool. first it was the IAT now it's the ECT!. I installed a Mishimoto race radiator (3" core, double pass) but i'm still running HOTTTTTTTT
anybody has any idea where I should be looking?
Water meth will help cool both the intake track and exhaust temps. If it is overheating that is another story. Ceramic coat everything or heat wrap it. Turbo blanket also. This was my setup

sorry I now realize the vagueness on my post. it's the coolant temps.
My IAT are great, they always match outside temps. I got a 4" core 1000hp intercooler from Sheepey. this is how the bay sits now. i heatwrapped MOST of the pipes, and added blankets all over.
I'm curious; how are you defining "running hot"? Are your coolant temperatures too high or is it your intake temperatures, or both?
my coolant temps, reg driving (in traffic) i see 190-212 (which i could live with) but if I start going into boost the temps start creeping up.... not so much when driving (assuming because of air flow) but
more than anything when i come to a stop!
its VERY HARD to stay off boost. turbo spools up at 2500 rpm ... by 3800 im on 9 lbs. of boost. which is a blessing and a freaking curse!

oh they are though lol... got high-performance mishimotos fans lol... i really dnt know what to do next.... I just ordered an inline water pump from Meziere maybe i need more flow?
Fans, in and of themselves, are only partially effective, unless the shrouding is also designed to maximize airflow through all of the cooling vanes, the fans will only draw air directly in front of the fan blades.

Looking at that custom radiator I see both the coolant inlet (top) and coolant outlet (bottom) as being offset from the extreme top and bottom of the radiator. Unless there are baffles built into the innards of the radiator, the coolant will take the shortest/easiest route from inlet to outlet; said another way, you may have a very hot zone of the radiator with the rest being cool or cold when the flow rate drops when the engine RPMs drop to idle. Might be worth using an infrared scanner to view the radiator when things are getting too hot to see of the heat of the unit is uniform or if the coolant flow is getting lazy.

have you tried any water wetter? I have no experience with that stuff but thought I'd throw it out there.
Other than that I think put as much heat shielding as possible to keep things as cool as possible.
I've been thinking about this thread for a couple of days now and my gut is still telling me there is an efficiency issue with the radiator. I'm wondering if the stock radiator may well do a better job.

i tho maybe the same. but today i changed the thermostat for a cooler one... mishimoto thermostat opens at 160 now. also took DJs advice and created a funnel aroundt he radiator, blocked off any other exit so the air HAS to go through the radiator now. temps are holding nicely but then again it's only 72 outside. lets see what happens when we get to 85+ or 90
lets see what the new thermostat will do, I m surprise you still running the OEM one after going FI, If I am not mistaken OEM start open around 175-180 F.
hey guys! so i spoke to DJ (turbo Type s) he suggested I also redirected all air flow towards the radiator.... and so i did! and voila!
lol yes I know the silver "aluminum foil" looking ducting tape isn't the prettiest but it reflects heat back out while directing the air toward the radiator.
at cruising speeds I was hitting 201-212 temps, now i go down to 177F (outside temps about the same)
lets see how she holds when i go for a retune on the 24th!!!!!!!!
Run water wetter 100%. I was having a problem with keeping my engine cool during tuning my supercharged setup and switching to water wetter made about 20 deg difference. Also depending on what you are being tuned with there is also the ability to turn the cooling fans on at a lower temperature
