...Well how do i know the IS300 handle and feel? BECAUSE I OWN ONE and WORKING on the car for 4 years along driving many other Lexus such as GS300 Sport design, LS430, GS350, RX300, ES330, LS460, ISF and RCF. So let me know how Lexus drive again?
Holy COW~! You, sir, have an car addiction problem!

lmao I guess I really do have a car addiction , back in 2017 I got an offer from my local Lexus dealer for a brand new 2018 RCF with the TVC diff, ML system package after trade the TL in for $45k. I just smile and decline lol, I drove the new NSX as well :P

Do you just walk into a dealership and say, Wow I kinda like this car, I'll take 3 in different colors and trim levels please... Hahhaha Im just glad I found someone with a worse car addiction than mine!!

Here in H-Town its not uncommon to see the sale tactics like that, I was told that I can keep the TLX Aspec for a whole weekend. You can ask Justnspace lol. I guess that what happened when a bunch of young guy who work 21 days on 14 days off in Midland TX where they got pay at least $125k a year, well back to topic at least once you complete the Foxbody you will really have a "weekend warrior" car lol.
I JUST replaced my 09 TSX 6sp for an 08 TL-S and I do not regret it at all. Only thing is miss about the TSX is the gas mpg and a really big one, bluetooth audio. The TL-S just feels more refined, compared to the TSX.
I owned a 08' 6MT TSX and it was a great car. Now owning a 07' TLS 6MT I can say I would chose the TLS hands down. Both drive great on the highway, both drive great in the twisties and overall I did enough both cars. But the TLS is faster, shifting is a lot better especially 1-2 shifts. The TSX would have a jerkiness when shifting from 1-2 gears, but the TLS shifts smoothly. It currently has 232k miles on it. I actually sold it and totally regret it and am in the process of trying to convince the guy to sell it back to me. Also the V6 sounds so mean with a growl while the TSX not so much. For me and my driving style the TLS is the better car.
Ok so I have someone who i can trade my TSX for a 2002 RSX-S, very clean in and out condition, good trade?
I figure its something new for me and it will allow me to learn stick shift finally, that way when Im ready for the TLS I’ll be sure to be patient and find a MT TLS.
Yeah I know its 2002 but it has 176k and my 2008 has 174k, both equal in condition cosmetically, is this dumb on my part?
You are not getting flak but the problem are people don't know much in tunning making the 2JZ-GE engine looks like a 10 foot tall monster. The 2JZGTE found on mark 4 Supra indeed a beautiful over engineer engine, many features that seem like over kill for Supra power output but yet its there.
HOWEVER the 2JZGE which found on most RWD Lexus is a pale comparison to the GTE counter part, the only thing they have in common is the ENGINE BLOCK. That it beside that everything in the GE is shit compare with GTE counter part. Transmission is the way way, the R154 is shit compare to Getrag found on some Supra, so that like I am saying my TL-S engine is the beast because its the same engine use in 2nd gen NSX. You are sadly mistaken XD.
GTE can easily handle 600 WHP on stock internal and tranmission. However in the IS300 if you push anything above 375 WHP on stock form you ARE living in borrow time, I bet you didn't know the AT and MT gear box has similar ratio with the exception of 5th gear and final drive :P the A650E actually much safer to push for high power application by upgrading the valve body.

Yes the engine is reliable and has good low end torque that it!!!! in mid end and high end RPM band it will absolute getting destroy by a K24A3 found on the 06-08 TSX stock vs stock with similar drive train configuration.
So to give an idea what the price difference on replacement part, my IS air iddle controller got replaced (OEM through online Lexus part) $186 plus shipping. Meanwhile my TL, TSX air idle controller cost me merely $40. OEM rack and pinion for the IS300 is $1900, my TL cost $400.
What you refer to "nice handling" actually has nothing to do with the IS300 suspension set up, its because the short wheel base and being RWD. If you drive any RWD car they can turn on a dime especially in low speed corner. Once you pushing the car limit you will encounter the soft suspension (which make a Lexus famous) before the predictable over steer.
Honestly I think the IS300 is a great platform for those who want to learn basic performance driving and that probably why most of them end up having salvage, rebuilt title. The TL-S actually involve more skills than the IS300 in term of weight transfer, braking and managing the throttle.
Thats awesome man, a lot of great info, like I said I am not very smart when it comes to fixing and tuning cars so when a guy like you comes around I shut up and listen, like I said before, I like the looks of the IS300, and I love how it drove (I suspected it was that RWD like you said) and was going by mostly peoples opinions on the 2JZ, I wont pretend to know what im doing when it comes to fixing and tuning cars.
But yea from what you have said my best bet is stick with Acura haha

I know RSX-S models are few and far between and hard to come by, but my gut tells me this isn't a great deal.

Are you ever planning on using the back seats? You will not be able to fit anybody larger than a child in the back seat of that RSX! I say don't do the trade. Just wait around the find a manual TL. They will pop up.
You found someone who will trade with you? I hope someone one will trade me an Accord or TL. It saves both parties time and money to just "get exactly what they want".

Yea its pretty awesome when people want to do a straight trade, both parties get new cars and just have to pay some taxes and what not.
instead of selling ones car, waiting, people lowballing etc etc
for me I dont have the time to sell my car right now, I also need a car for a daily and on top of that I dont have the money for a TLS right now either, at least in the meantime I can get a different car, learn manual and have some fun until the TLS.
