Well, I guess I read one bad review too many on the Bridgestone Turanza EL42. My build date is scheduled for April 27 - May 1, and after speaking with my dealer who told me the dealership wouldn't be able to put on different tires (I expected that), he's talking to the sales manager tomorrow morning about changing the order to HPTs. Given the fact that I already had a preorder in for RR/Eb/6MT/Navi, I already have an allocation in the assembly line (since Feb 10), so neither the dealer nor I could see a reason I would not be able to add the HPT. It will change the model number of the vehicle (UA6564KW) but I don't think that, in and of itself, will cause a problem. What are my odds of getting the order changed this close to build date? Will let you all know what happens. Naturally I'm looking forward to next weekend (hopefully it builds on the 27th!!) since I have been waiting over 2 months.

I have really enjoyed my Contour but I'm looking forward to the leap ahead... I thought about the TSX because of the similar size/HP but decided to go with the TL's goodies.

In the short time I have been part of this forum, I have learned about bluetooth, DVD-A, window tint problems, wheel/tire sizes and fitment, leather butt prints and a host of other info that helped me determine this is the right car (and what to expect when I get it) and I appreciate those in the forum who have contributed all that useful information. Thanks all.

I think our VINs represents 5AT/6MT with or without HPTs.

Your RR/EB/6MT/Navi is apparently not the popular color combo. Since Acura even gives HPTs 04TL different VINs numbers, it could mean Acura plant won't be able to swap those HPTs directly into your originally expected 04TL, which would be built on 4/27-5/1.

I worry it's hard to do so if Acura plant has already set up their incoming schedule to produce that limited combination (RR/EB/6MT/Navi/HPTs) into its prodcut lines.

Perhaps, if you don't mind your VINs representing 6MT without HPTs, your dealer may find the way to provide the car to you.

BTW, Ohio has snow in winter, you definitely would plan another set of snow tires, right...

 

Your dealer should be able to get these for you - even post-delivery - if they want to. I think it's just parts in a warehouse in the big scheme of things...
