Trunk Tray pays off

This weekend I was in MD, and the person whom I was visiting needed to get some diesel. Long story short, the container fell in the trunk. Even though it was closed tightly, still some diesel did spill, and most of my stuff in the trunk was contaminated. However, no stains on the trunk carpet, just took the tray out and washed it very well. No diesel smell from the trunk at all.

While I am at it, does anyone have an ingenious way to keep cleaning supplies in the trunk, short of the cargo net (worthless) that comes with the car. I was thinking of using some sort of kitchen rack and somehow attach it to the side of the trunk. Pics will be helpful as would be links to the stuff used. This is my weekend project now to create a space to store supplies whiloe making sure they do not go all over the trunk.

A small duffel bag in the corner or pull out your spare and put them there.

The trunk tray came with my moms TL and it is something we would have never shelled out the $ for. After using it for 2 years I have realized how useful and ingenius it really is. It has saved the TLs trunk several times. It is money well spent and I am gettin on my new civic si.
Just thought I would say that

Other than being inconvenient, the spare place will add more rattles. I am using a box right now, but it is too difficult to organize. Unfortunately, when you have to live in NYC, you cannot afford the luxury to keep stuff in garages. The apartments barely have place for people to live, and add a wife to a NYC apartment, her shoes take over the remaining space that would otherwise be used to store car supplies; hence, the trunk is the only choice. I am planning to play around with styrofoam and see what I can make out of it.

I used to use one of these in my Intrepid. The trunk was carpeted and it hardly moved. I would have put some velcro on the bottom if I needed to. Not sure how you would attach it to the trunk tray.

Try a Cargopak. I have one and it works great for keeping your stuff from rolling around. Collapsible if you need more space for big items. Waterproof, velcro underneath to stay in place, etc. You get idea. http://www.ebags.com/creekside_produ...?modelid=19744

What I like best is that I can just pull out the tray and clean.
