Trunk Release Died

OK. Here's my problem folks. The in care trunk release switch localed above your left knee no longer works. It still lights up but the only way for me to open the trunk now is to hit the release buttom on the remote. Has this happened to anyone else before? Anyone have any idea what may have caused this? A fuse? A relay? Either way, I'm calling the dealer tomorrow. I'll keep you updated. Thanks for the ideas.

gochan,

You are a genius !!! I can't believe I overlooked such a simple thing. OK. I feel like a total bonehead ! It worked. Apparently either I or a passanger accidently knocked the switch while getting something out of the glovebox. Case closed. Thanks man.

I'm wondering why the remote still works... I guess the thinking is that you won't give the remote to a valet, you'd only give the valet key...

Good catch, Zax. You are ONLY supposed to give the valet key to the valet so that the guy won't go through your trunk and find the dead body that you hid in there ! I wonder how many times folks have just simply handed over one of the Driver keys with the remote without even a thought. I guess that would depend on what establishment you were visiting at the time. As for myself, no one other then the dealer gets the keys.

Duh. I forgot that there was a lock in there. That's why these forums are so great. Others remember what you forget and vice versa.

I have to admit, I don't even carry the valet key with me. Bad huh? I'm a little too easy going with my car. Let anyone drive it, park it anywhere. Don't get me wrong, I love my car, but I'm just not as anal (sorry for the reference) as I could be about it.
