Trunk lip spoiler question
Trunk lip spoiler question
For anyone that has a trunk lip spoiler did you add any other special glues or anything other then the double sided tape so it stays on better? Mine just came in an i'm wondering if i need anything other then the tape.
Thanks
Thanks
I have only the 3M tape on my lip spoiler and it's been on for the past 4 years- been through car washes without any issue. The key is to clean the surface carefully, using a mix of water and denatured alcohol to remove any wax or dirt (use a microfiber cloth). I also didn't use an adhesion promoter that's often included for use (I didn't want this on my paint). After applying, use a heat gun or hair dryer while repeatedly rubbing the lip back and forth with a microfiber towel to make sure everything is fully adherent (please note this is for a lip spoiler and not for a rear wing).
I got my trunk lip off of eBay and it came with 2 long strips of 3M, but I added an extra strip of 3M just to be safe. I also cleaned the area of my trunk very carefully with a microfiber towel and rubbing alcohol before I put on the lip
Bought mine on e bay 5 years ago-the damn thing completely stays on, 2 weeks ago the clear coat started to peel though.well worth it for 89.00..i ordered another one from taiwan for 49.00 last week.

i put my oem trunk lip spoiler on with just 3m tape and i dont go out of my way to clean it at all lol. Go through car washes and everything..its not going anywhere unless i take a heat gun and some tooth floss to it
Mine was put to the test when some ass-hat customer of mine set a big 30lb. box on my trunk and lip. Inside I was jumping out of my skin, but I just moved it off after a minute of chit-chat and the spoiler was fine.
