The true meaning of "A-Spec"
The true meaning of "A-Spec"
A-Spec means American Specifications. J-Spec means Japanese specifications. For example a J-Spec (Japanese) Integra TypeR has 197 horsepower, but an A-Spec (American) Integra TypeR has 195 horsepower. Same with the J-Spec Supra, The Japanese version had only 276 horsepower due to a Japanese gentlemens' agreement, but the A-spec (American) Supra has 320 horsepower. Get the pic? Even the Euro M-3 has different specs between their European version and the American version. This is where the "Spec" derived from.

C-Spec just didn't sound cool enough. Seriously though, the A-Spec was introduced first for the Canadian market. Of course, they call their Civic EX a Civic Si so who knows how they determine these names.
