Exclamation Triangle light in my car

Hi guys, I've been having a problem in my car for the past two weeks. When i stop in my car then accelerate a little fast, my wheels start to lag and a light that has a triangle with an exclamation point came on (like the one above but orange). It only lags for one second but then stops and the light goes off. I know what the lights is, but haven't found anything in how to fix it. I would love to find out before snow comes, Thanks.

there's nothing wrong. the light just indicates that your traction control has kicked in. its just a warning indicator for wheel slip.

But it happens every single time, not just once.

basically whats happening is your car thinks your wheels lost traction so its cutting power. if you arent actually losing traction, then one or more of your sensors need to be replaced. might be the wheel speed sensor

A temporary fix would be to turn the VSA off so power isn't cut to the wheels. If you have a 6-speed combined with really crappy or worn tires, it might just be that you're getting a little spin every time. After 50K miles on my DWS's I got a little spin almost every time I accelerated from a stop. Probably VTEC kicking in.

^as said, your tires must be in very poor condition for it to slip like that.

^what kind of tires?

and try the test that losiglow asked you to do.
TURN OFF VSA and see if you get wheel spin.

if the triangle warning only happens on acceleration and goes away shortly after, you're losing traction.

80% thread on a 3 month old tires? Are they used?

+1 on losiglow

I am wondering if you have had the tires balance properly or if your wheels maybe bent?

You should give us more details.

Put one of them car mustaches on the front, it should weigh it down enough to get good traction off the line.

i still think its a broken sensor. how can it be possible that all of a sudden his vsa keeps kicking in from EVERY stop? he'd have to have a very heavy foot without even noticing it. the TL is not a THAT fast lol

^doesnt have to be fast.

if it were a broken sensor, wouldnt it be on ALL the time? and not only present when he accelerates?

It is definitely not the tires. And i had them installed and balanced from Just Tires, so it's not the tires. I will do the "Turn VSA Off" on the weekend.

^when did this problem start happening?

$500 bet that it started happening when the tires were installed.

Why not just turn it off when you get in the car next time?

In your first post, you mention you accelerate pretty fast at a stop. Do you do that all the time? Does it happen only when you do that? Have you try accelerating normally? Does it run normally after the light goes away? Is your wheel bent because you ran over a pot hole (or hopped a curb )?

I do not normally accelerate when i stop but since i noticed that i did it a couple times to check if it was a one time thing and it wasn't. usually also happens when i'm waiting and then need to take a quick turn before a car comes and it'll do it. It always runs normally when the light goes away. Once again, wheels are not bent, cracked, unbalanced or any thing, it's not the wheels.

^LOL! what you described is the system working perfectly fine..
if the system detects wheel spin at all, it will momentarily cut power...(you cant feel it cut power..)
and will light up your dash with the triangle symbol...

LOL, your tires are slipping when you take off...then as soon as you gain traction, the triangle light goes away.

accelerate like grandma.

p.s. your tires are at fault here.
either,
A)they're not warmed up properly and have NO TRACTION
B) Under inflated which causes NO TRACTION
C) Over inflated which causes NO TRACTION
D) bald which has NO TRACTION
E) Cheap tires that doesnt have any traction

Check your brake fluid level. Low brake fluid will cause that light to come on when you accelerate or turn quickly.
