The critics like the reduced torque steer on the auto, although the 06 integrates a power limiter to avoid torque steer as much as possible on the manual, whether that will hinder performance I dont know. Since you live in a pretty open area traffic shouldn't be too much of a problem, so the stick is more fun. I personally, although prefer the stick, am lazy, so it would be a hard decision for me as well.

I have a manual and don't regret it at all. Most of my driving is during bumper to bumper traffic, too. After traffic opens back up, I can enjoy the drive. Also, after being in an auto for 3 years, that was enough for me to get back into a manual car even though getting the clutch replaced is a biatch.

hmm the other problem is i suck horribly at stick! so i would have to learn, i gues drive a loaner like 10 times (= but if the hurricane destroys my car since it's parked outside i will definantly be hoping into a 05 TL. i will probably go for the Manual just because its more fun and i like to race every now and then

When I bought my 04 6MT I didn't know how to drive stick at all. I had some idea practicing on my friend's civic, but i was still a novice. I stalled so many times, because the TL has a huge 1st gear. After about three days of practice, i got better. The only way to learn well is forcing yourself.....
Good luck with Rita. Hopefully nothing will happen to ur car.

I have both.. an '04 manual (which is mine) and an '05 (which is my wife's - jointly owned) which is an automatic. If you have a sheer love of driving, of the fluid motion of a fine machine, of feeling connected to the car, then get the manual. It's a joy to use.

I have the manual and do not regret it. The AT loaners I've driven do not feel anwhere near as quick and the clutch is light enough to not be a work-out in traffic. Also, MT cars have considerably stiffer swaybars and a LSD which provide a sportier feel.

I plan on trading in my '04 TL automatic for an '06 manual with nav. since I'm getting my wife an '06 Honda Pilot and i'll probably sale my '04 integra gsr. COMPROMISES.

Thanks. I read this a few months back and learned so much, especially about downshifting. That post is great for first-timers or anyone who want to be a better shifter.

If you are even considering the Manual, then that is what you should get IMO. I am VERY happy with the 6Speed. I think had I gotten the auto, I would be wishing I had gotten the stick right about now. Happened when I got my Max, and I told myself next car I would get would be a stick, eventhough I danced around the idea of going with an Auto TL, but in the end the stick prevailed, and I don't regret it one bit.
