I own a 2004 Acura TL. Other day, the second gear didn't go out, but it now sounds like a rod knock type noise while in second. Only in second gear, gets louder while accelerating, and isn't speed variant. (I can start in second and it still knocks). It's mega loud and the transmission shops are pointing to a broken tooth on second. Shifts perfect into second, stays in second perfect, and shifts out of it perfect. Same with every other gear. Car only has 154,000, so it's odd that would of happened.

Anyway onto my question, will an 05 TL 6MT fit into an 04 TL 6MT? Cause I got one and it better, cause it was like 810$.

Have you done regular and required fluid changes?

Otherwise I agree with ggesg, in that an 05 tranny will fit.

 

Changed the fluid to GM syncromesh when I bought the car (25,000 miles ago.....) So it's a bit odd, transmission was flawless before that and the noise came on on a normal 2500rpm shift after the car warmed up in the AM. I always warm up the car to operating temp before driving too. So.
