transmission fluid maintenance

Have 74 000 miles on my 2006 TL transmission fluid hasn't been changed yet. Any thoughts about using Honda ATF rather the Acura dealer ATF which is often overpriced?
Changed my older Acura CL 3.0 using Honda ATF did it few times fluids out drove for month again repeat over again three times. Since i changed it over the years the transmission began to slip until few months ago now needs replacing.
Do i leave the TL alone with one drain and fill ATF? No problems or shifting with the TL transmission don't want to cause any trouble. Good or bad?

Honda ATF (aka, DW-1) is EXACTLY the same as Acura ATF (also called DW-1).

And yes, service your transmission, in fact, service it three times in quick succession.

Castrol is NOT Honda DW-1; never has been, never will be.

I'm going to do a 3X3 on my auto CL. I'm trying the AISIN ATFDW1 for $4.37 a quart (9 quarts for $39.33 before discount & shipping) on rockauto.

Does Aisin make Acura/Honda DW-1 fluid?

I looked up the Aisin ATF and it says, "Formulated For DW-1 Applications". That is a little shy of, "Certified to be DW-1 Compatible", but still a darn sight better than any of the one-size fits many ATFs like MaxLife.

Hmmm . . . used to buy a case of Acura DW-1 from oemacuraparts.com for about $80, tax and shipping included with some other costly parts . . if I could time this with other purchase, it's just $1 more per bottle. I'll stick with Acura DW-1. May have to pay a little more for shipping since moved 1,000 miles further away from Arizona.

@horseshoez Just curious, based on your experience / knowledge, would the Idemitsu ATF TYPE-H PLUS be any closer to the real Honda DW-1?

Aisin ATFDW1 > Idemitsu ATF TYPE-H PLUS > Honda DW-1

I would/do use nothing but DW-1. It is worth the cost. $100 per year or two to keep transmission working properly is $ well spent. My TL has 302,500 miles. Other fluid might work fine but why bother taking the chance. If you do the change yourself it is cheap.

If I had a car with an automatic I'd be inclined to buy any of the three. Unless I'm missing something, the two former ATFs are made to the DW-1 specification, so splitting hairs would be intellectually interesting (to a geek like me), but most probably so close as to not be worth the effort.

Thanks for the response.
The reason I asked is because the guys on the link below (you may have already seen or researched it?) speak of Idemitsu being the OEM supplier to Honda for DW-1. As a result, I remembered seeing that Idemitsu offered an ATF under their own name for Acura / Honda use; therefore, my logic thought, their 'formulation' would be the closest to the real DW-1 being they make and supply it to Honda anyway.
