Trailer hitch on my 07 TL

Greetings,

I don't like those roof mount bike racks so I wanted to use my exisitng trailer hitch bike rack that I used on my last car. I was thinking about adding a 1 1/4" class 1 ( I think that is the class w/ the smallest receiver ) for this bike rack.

Has anyone done such a thing? Does that ruin the looks of the car?

Thanks in advance.

Romer

I dunno dude.... I'm sure it can be done but it might look a little trashy You have ever seen a sports or luxury car with a trailer hitch before? Found this via a google image search:

i saw someone pulling a UHaul trailer with a TL this past weekend! They had mounted the hitch up under the car some kind of way, obviously that is the only way to get to the frame. So it can be done! Let me know how it goes. I am considering mounting something so I can pull a small trailer of stuff with me. I have to move around often in the next couple years and it would be nice to not have stuff all over my car.

Oh, I should have added this as well: https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/...707O00260A.pdf

Bottom line- you are assuming the risk if you tow w/ your TL.

Hi,
I too am a cyclist and didn't want a trunk mounted or roof mounted bike rack, so with the advice of my dealer, I got an 1-1/4" hitch installed from "Hidden Hitch" and it looks just fine. With my "Thule" upright bike rack, bikes are on and off with ease and no damage to the paintwork.

People look at the TL, not to see if you have a hitch on it or not!. Practicality is the name of the game...

I have used a trailer hitch successfully for two years. it was the perfect solution as I didn't want a roof or trunk rack and I didnt want to ruin the look/lines of the car.

As luck, or should I say unluck, would have it, I totaled my car last week. I just removed the hitch and am looking to sell it. If you are interested please let me know.

I have a draw-tite class I on my 06 that I use for my bike rack. I think it's model #24755. Do a google and you'll find it. Paid around $75 last year. Half hour install.

It bolts to the rear center jack point (tow hook) and you also drill two holes in the trunk where the spare tire is and secure with bolts. Make sure you get some blue RTV sealant and apply to both sides of the bolted connection to keep moisture out. You also have to notch out the plastic cover that's underneath the rear. No big deal you can do it with a box cutter.

It's a very clean install as most of the hitch tucks up underneath and is covered by that plastic shroud. All you see from the rear is the square receiver. I used one of those black plastic square covers that fits inside.
