It all comes down to looking after your own business. Insurance company doesn't care about you, nor will they retract their $9700 offer.
Why is it so wrong to ask for more? What's he got to lose, besides absolutely nothing?

Yeah, it's not like they're going to get pissy, take the 9700 off the table and come back with some crazy low number. Tell them you just waxed it with unicorn jizz cultivated from grass fed unicorns from Zimbabwe and that you need 10,500 to recoup your losses.

Dude there is a sweet 2008 TL-S 6speed at Kia of Brampton that you should definitely consider. Black with a-spec too
Here's a link: 2008 Acura TL TypeS NAVIGATION LEATHER SUNROOF LOADED!!! for $15,498 in Brampton | autoTRADER.ca
Oddly yesterday they were asking only $14k for it, maybe they realized the car they have now lol

My uncle who owns a 335is has had to have both of his turbochargers replaced, water pump & high pressure fuel pump along with some other miscellaneous electronics that were audio related replaced. He rarely ever beats on his car too. Luckily he had an extended warranty so he didn't have to cover those expenses. If you can find a 335i/335is under manufacturer warranty, I'd go for it.
Gas mileage for the 335i/335is isn't horrible, my uncle averages 12.5L/100km in city driving which isn't bad for a twin turbocharged I6 pushing ~330hp.

My freind had a 535i with the same engine for a few years and had to replace both turbos and some other stuff too. He didnt have warranty anymore or they said he couldnt use it because he modified the car. I watched him pull out $10,000 for that lol. Then he had to sell the car to make up for it...

LOL...I can just hear him saying "Acurazine says that's a little light, fellas..."
Adam, I have a hard time believing you couldn't differentiate me joking about your contradiction from me not understanding that it was okay to ask for more.

Glad you came out of this relatively safe, and that's a fair amount they gave you ...
I would spring for that TL-S. The mileage and condition seems to be really good for the price - Especially given that car would probably go for almost that much in USD stateside.

OP, glad to hear you made off like a bandit. Hey, that's $500 extra in your pocket now. Sadly, insurance companies worry about their own interests (protect the share holders at all costs!) so it makes sense that you have to look after yours!
