Totalled my TL today
Some crazy guy ignored a stop sign tboned me outta no where and sent me flying off the road. I am not at fault at all.
..the car is a write off. Im really not sure what to do right now, it was a 2005 TL with around 210,000km.
Any kind of advice would be appreciated.

Holy moly...I'm sorry to see!
Like Justin said, at least you're alright! Fight for every penny from the insurance company. Go ahead and start doing research to find another vehicle, whether it's a TL or not.

Thanks for the concern everyone. Asides from a few bruises, a gash on my wrist and a sprained shoulder, im fine. I had a moment after the crash to yell and cuss and explode in a fury i never knew i was capable of.. but when they managed to get me out the car (had the break windows, i was stuck) and i saw the TL from the outside, my heart broke.
I was lucky to have stopped when i did though, not far from a pond, stopped right infront of a billboard. Glad i didnt hit that too.
Do you have any idea how much my TL would be worth? It was an 05 TL, mint condition, had an intake, BC racing suspension, 210,000km.
I also have belongs in the trunk I was unable to retrieve because the car has absolutely no power, wont turn on at all. Key remote wont pop it open.

Modifications add ZERO value, unless you insured them.
you will need to research the value of the car by going to various different value guides, like kelly blue book and nada value...type in your zip code or providence to get the most accurate value

From my experience, this is what happened to me:
My car was written off back in 2010. I paid 13.5k for the car when I bought it, one year earlier. Insurance cut me a check for what the blue book value of the car was, which happened to be 13.5k. I went back and negotiated with them. Although my mods weren't insured, I had full documentation of everything I did to the car. My receipts for mods totaled $2500ish. The insurance company doesn't have to cover the cost of mods, however, StateFarm ended up being really good to me and covered it all.
Because I provided all receipts of everything I lost and also provided 11x17 photos of my car (it was in mint condition and an extremely rare color to boot), they ended up giving me 16k for it. They essentially covered the entire cost of my car. I must have underpaid for the car when I bought it, because they matched what I paid for it, one year earlier.
As for your contents- If it's not bolted to the car, your car insurance will not cover it. You would have to claim the contents under home insurance. It sounds like your battery was likely disconnected by somebody after the accident, if nothing is turning on. I'd check that first.
Glad to hear you're ok and good luck. Post back when you get more details!

There's a glow in the dark trunk release lever accessible through the middle rear seat opening.
Sorry to hear, man.
There's a reason why brampton has expensive insurance

given where you got the main impact, check your passenger seat for the battery.
Glad you're okay...
Tacoballs gave some really good advice, although what he experienced is probably not the norm. He must have a way with words.
Anyway...get a type S now! Or something new!

The manual release for the trunk can be accessed by opening the rear seat armrest and pass thru door opening to the trunk. Feel around the roof of the trunk a few inches back from the pass thru opening there is a tab to pull. Most people never know it there. If all else fails you can try the glow in the dark trunk release on the trunk itself.

A few days later I received a call and they said they were willing to offer me 16k.
I think it was just Statefarm, to be honest. I eventually realized I was paying higher premiums with them (even before the accident), and I think that may have played a role in my outcome. You get what you pay for.
About a year after, I moved to a cheaper insurance company- I never had a claim with them, but I'm sure they'd likely tell me to pound sand if I asked for more money.

retail on a car like yours is averaged at 7,000 usd, excellent at 9,000USD and rough at 4,000USD. Hope your insurance company doesn't try to low ball you! Feel better & happy new year!

My TL got totaled 2 months ago.
First off, I'm glad you were able to get out of the TL and walk off. Please go get yourself checked out by a doctor.
Second, patience. I was expected a certain number, but to my surprise insurance gave me quite a bit more than I was expecting. They gave me back 91% of my purchase price and that's not even including my deductible.
Good luck. Hope they give you a good price.

If it can't be determined who is at fault, the insurance companies apply a 50/50 at fault ruling, which sucks, because the person lying isn't helping their situation and only hurting someone else's. That's when you track down where they live and have a *nice* conversation with them

Thanks, ill try this tomorrow! I hope it's not busted though. I got hit so hard numerous things in the interior of the car broke such as the driver arm rest. Even the thingy in the middle of the back seat that comes down broke too.. i hope that isn't what you're talking about.

I was driving down a main road, he came from a 2 way stop but didn't stop at all, determined to just fly through the intersection even though he didn't have the right of way.
It was 5:30am, dark side road in a newer developed area so im guessing he didnt expect me to be coming down the road. He probably just flew through assuming no one would be there.
I saw him coming at ungodly speeds in the last second, it was a 60 road but he was probably doing 100kph, he was driving a hyundai ALS, smaller car than the tl but hit me with such force it completely took me off the road as i was crashing into the woods before i finally stopped infront of a billboard.
Go through a 2 way stop? Tboned? Yeah you're gonna be at fault 95% of the time.

Once again ty all for the concern.
Im looking at a really nice black 08 TLS im interested in... but im not sure whether i want another TL or a e92 bmw 335i.. been eyeing that car for a long time but everyone tells me to stay away from it due to plenty mechanical issues.
I got this TL exactly a year ago and put 40k km on it (i drive a lot) and it gave me absolutely no problems.

Oddly yesterday they were asking only $14k for it, maybe they realized the car they have now lol

Still torn between it and a 335i. I have to make a decision fast though because I was given a brand new elantra as a rental for 7 days. I dont wanna pay a dime more for this rental than i need to so i gotta make a decision on a new car asap which really sucks but i kinda have limited choices in this situation.
Once again thanks for all advice.
Live a little and go with the 335i. I'd definitely stay away from the 07's and probably the 08's as well. The TL's a great car; good looking, decently quick and dead reliable, but the 335i can be made to be genuinely fast for a couple grand. And then there's the handling and the plain old fun to drive factor. Gas mileage sucks though (at least compared to the TL).

My uncle who owns a 335is has had to have both of his turbochargers replaced, water pump & high pressure fuel pump along with some other miscellaneous electronics that were audio related replaced. He rarely ever beats on his car too. Luckily he had an extended warranty so he didn't have to cover those expenses. If you can find a 335i/335is under manufacturer warranty, I'd go for it.
Gas mileage for the 335i/335is isn't horrible, my uncle averages 12.5L/100km in city driving which isn't bad for a twin turbocharged I6 pushing ~330hp.

Quick update.
Insurance is giving me 9700 for the car which seems fair enough to me. Because the winter tires were new and it was an Aspec with the dynamic package. I bought the car a year ago for 6500 at 170k km (the guy had it priced higher but he lived in the middle of no where and no one really wanted to make the trip to go see him), it's now almost 220k km.
I wonder if i can get more if i can prove it was in mint condition...

You honestly have nothing to lose by trying. Just ask if they're open to negotiation on the price. If not, take the $9700 and run. If yes, just don't get too greedy. I wouldn't ask for more than $10,500.
I agree with Justn though- that is a good offer they gave you.
