Torque Steer/Handling Inquiry
Torque Steer/Handling Inquiry
Gents, I've had my '06 TL MT for a little under a year, and while I can live with some torque steer straight line, I'm bothered by it when I'm in the middle of a curve trying to have some fun.
Will better (or wider) tires mitigate this or is this nature of the beast something I have to live with anytime I attack the twistys? I currently have the OEM Potenza Turanza's. Appreciate your input...

i would have thought the limited-slip diff would have helped, seeing as you have the MT.
i have pirelli p-zero nero m&s on my AT, and i dont really feel much of any torque steer, especially if i am already in motion. i can really only feel it from a dead stop when i floor it, and i hit a bump or something. but maybe my aspec suspension helps out. so if you are riding stock suspension, you may want to think about upgrading. i know when i got a base TL loaner, i felt really sacred trying to take curves at my "normal" speed.
did you actually me under steer, or torque steer?

Might not be torque steer.
1st, from what little I know, those tires are crap for performance/traction.
2nd, are you losing forward traction or are you under-steering? If under-steer, it's nothing to do with torque-steer per se. Better/wider tires will help.
Finally, if the road is bumpy at all, it'll cause you to break traction sooner. Again, not torque steer per se, but on wheel hops on a bump and the other maintains traction and pulls you in that direction.
IOW - I think you might be encountering "normal" traction control/traction loss events and not torque steer.
