I'm about to jump on either a used '05 or '06. Is the reduction in torque steer on the '06 worth the extra three or more thousand dollars?

no, spend the money on better tires for the 04-05 (around 800 dollars at most) and you will be faster and having much more fun, plus more saftey in an 05 due to the better tires.

One of the reasons why FWD sucks for performance use. I can get in my 602rwhp Buick and go in a straight line yet when I floor the 258hp TL the car goes all over the place. Luckily it doesn't do it nearly as bad with my new tires.

602... straight line? and you'll be looking up at the sky

the reality is, torque steer is only a problem till you get used to it, seriously, the tl is hands down the #1 front wheel drive handling sedan ever built

I agree with you. I had an 80hp Celica that torque steered worse than the TL. Handling surprises me all the time. I'm just getting old and I grew up with RWD so the torque steer is annoying to me..... and I'm getting grouchy in my old age.

That's if the tires stick! Otherwise you are looking at reverse torque steer (tail happy)!

It makes my wife worry when the car appears to float around and I assure her that it's totally under control. As I Hate Cars said, I've had other cars just about rip the wheel out of my hands so this car is a dream.

Sure it's not a RWD, but I knew that. I live in a 4 season state so RWD isn't practical.

Its more like a jerk at the stearing wheel. If the car literally swerves left and right...then thats some extreme tourque steer. In my opinion anyway. The 08 Type-S does a great job at correcting torque steer at full throttle in my opinion. TL-S FTW!!!!!!

umm no. definitely not. We don't have e-brakes its a parking brake. Pulling it in an act of desperation would only result in a total loss of control.

Torque steer is when you feel the car trying to steer to the left or right under hard acceleration.

where the hell did you get that from lol. noooo you dont.

okay. your at a complete stop. you give it full throttle (pedal all the way down to the floor), the car will jerk a little (or a lot, depending on the car) left and right. meaning, no way in hell a FWD car will stay straight without you aligning it when you give it full throttle lol.

haha yah i didnt mean actually start swerving like drifting in the rain. but your right, it corrects it in a second or so.
