OK I know that North Toronto does it for $105.
But what if I want to get this done cheaper, and went to a locksmith? How can those guys come into play? Programming the fob seems easy from Ron A's tutorial.

I think its not just programming the fob but also syncing all of the chips to your car that needs to be done by the dealership.
So there is cutting, programming and syncing.
If you go to north toronto they will probably just handle everything for you at that price. I want to order the key and get it done as well as my girl lost my 2nd key 1 week after I gave it to her. I need to order new keys anyways.

Hey satisfcuktion,
Acura of N Tor will cut the key, Switch Blade Fob and program for 105?
Its not a bad deal.
Go for it.
If they can do it for that price, i might be interested.
But its always good to get a lower price.
Keep me posted.

I was the very first one who went to North Toronto Acura to do it.
You cannot bring them a blank switch blade key. they cannot cut a blank one.
you have to bring them the switchblade key that has already been cut to resemble an 04-06 TL style blank key.
Then they can cut it.
I'm not too pleased about hte way they cut my key as the actual key was a little too thin for my liking...i need to sand it a bit but it works.

FLBUsa sells the switchblade keys pre-milled to an 04-06 TL style blank key.
He no longer takes orders where u provide him the key and he mills it and sends it back. Apparently it was too much of a hassle.
You can buy a blank switchblade key from a dealer probably but unless you can find a place to get it milled, it will be hard.

What is "milling"?
As for getting a locksmith to make a "blank 04-05" TL key, how would they know what that looks like? Is my original 04-05 "blank"? It the "teeth" on the key IS unique for MY car, isn't it?

This is what the original blank 2007 switchblade key looks like:

This is what our 04 - 06 TL blank key would look like:
(this is not an actual 04 - 06 TL blank key but it is close enough)

This is what i meant by "milling"..
You can't just give the dealer the 2007 blank key (link 01) and expect them to complete cut it.
So what i meant was, you gotta cut the 2007 blank key so that it resembles a 2004-2006 TL blank key (link 02).
Then and only then can the dealer cut it because the blank resembles the shape of your original TL key. all they need to do is cut the grooves and thas it...
also programming it too.
I don't know if a lock smith can cut the 2007 blank key to resemble a 2004 - 2006 TL blank key. Maybe that is what gave FLBUsa an edge or something. He precision milled it. how difficult it is to do for a locksmith who knows??? maybe if u give him an 04 - 06 TL blank key then the locksmith can try but i mean... it probably is not ez to do.

Anyone know any reputable/knowledgable/experienced locksmiths? I can't even think of ONE that I know of off the top of my head
Thanks for the advices so far, guys.
Well since NT Acura can't mill it so 04-05 blank and locksmiths don't know how it looks or might not be able to do it, how did you get it done?

Go to the black market section and look for the 2007 switchblade key thread.
You will need to buy the switchblade key from FLBUsa himself.
He will precision mill it for you. Mem 1 key is cheaper than a Mem 2 key.
When you get it, then you can take it to a lock smith to cut it to match your current TL key then bring to North Toronto Acura to program your keys.
Of you can bring the switchblade key to North Toronto Acura and have them cut and program keys but then u gotta pay more.
Shit man i gotta sand my key a bit...as it came out a bit rough. Not smooth like the original keys u got with ur car when u buy it.
If you go to North Toronto Acura, they will give u some disclaimer saying they dun deal with this stuff normally. I was seriously nervous cause if they messed up the cut, then i didn't know if they were obligated to give me a new blank switchblade key back or not....

Or I can feel adventurous and do that: http://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread.php?t=428964
Or have a member who did RSX&Accord keys to do it. I think he does the "milling" also.

Ok, I've picked up the fob from my local dealership. If say, I don't want to go through the hassle of getting to key to work, but just use it as a fob, would the normal DIY programming written by Ron A work? (https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89492)
What about for programming the trunk? Or would that require the dealer?
Once I follow Ron A's guide, would my existing Mem1 fob work still? Or no?
