i no there r alot of threads that hav people showing their top speed they've gotten out of their tls. i heard that the tl has a top speed limiter; has anyone taken the chip out? i doubt it but if so, is the top spped anydifferent???? i wonder...

 

I dont know why anybody would want to go above the current top speed limiter by trying to take the chip out. Im not gonna attempt to go above 145 or whatever the number is anytime soon.

If the TL has a speed limiter, it is set very high (152 mph reported in a couple of magazines). Also, 152 mph is about the correct top end for 270 HP and a car the TL's size. A car with a smaller cross-section and/or lower drag coefficient would go faster (NSX, Vette, etc.) with the same power.

Most folks have noticed the engine appears to be artificially HP limited due to the low rev limit, however the engine computer chips are tough to manipulate. Aftermarket does make some Honda engine control boxes (maybe too early for TL), but you set yourself up for a host of other issues (some not minor).

 

I have not hit a speed limiter, but I have only done about 130 in the car.

I think he drives in parking lots and/or driveways, consequently the speed limiter question was rhetorical rather than practical. That being said, he will probably be a well informed TL driver in 3 years.

 

 

exactly!!! lol ive gotten to 40mph in the tl thank you! but yes, i asked this question because in the 'top speed' thread, people have said tl bottoms out at around 150 when they still fell that it could go faster.
