man i hate when some people get all stupid like you on the forum, i dont see why its funny that i dont know what boast means ive never heard that or used that term before. english is my second language so i guess i still have to pick up all the terms that assholes like you use.
#44
Sorry, didnt know english was your second language.
you speak/write pretty well.
to boast means to speak with pride.
you boasted about your speeds going 150, No wonder why that maxima wrecked.

oh, well im sorry too bro. yeah i have been here and gone to school here in the states but i was born in mexico. that was actually my second guess about what boasting meant. yeah but thank fully when i wrecked my maxima i wasnt going 150 mph...lol. i was actually driving down a blvd and some jerk was on the left lane at a red light waiting to turn left, but when i was almost at the intersection he decided to turn right instead, well he "tried" to turn right because we crashed and ended up in the middle of the intersection and my car was on its side against a wall. it was freaky but now i look back and imagine it looked pretty cool as a buy stander. when i saw him i tried to move to the right aswell but we crashed and when i hit the curb i guess thats when my car flipped on its side. then he tries to run away and the cops got him. his car was on bare wheels and without a bumper. so allstate called me and said that the car was totaled and i got the TL.
long story dont know if you care but thats how it happened.

I've had 3 run above the century mark. The first time I was at 115 then backed off. The next time I was at about 127. The last time I was over 125, but too nervous to take my eyes off the road, but I remember she was pulling strong when I backed off. That was enough for me as I don't bother to take that risk any more.

anyways ,like 140, when my car was still auto, then like 145 with it manual
#49
normally very hard to even get it to that 155 anyways, unless you got a good open road
normally a govener is set to the max speed rating of the tires that originally came on the car (aka i remember on my old accord the EX's could do like 135 or so, where the other models could only do like 118, cause they had smaller rims, and tires that where only rated to 118)

Yes, the car is not allowed to exceed the speed rating of the tires. I suggested people look up the speed rating of the TL-S 5at tires to see if it's the tires or the trans that requires the governor or if it's just a fluke. My GN would pull as hard at 120mph as the TL does in 1st gear from a stop. Then it hits 124mph and it feels like you slammed on the brakes. Stock tires were rated at 124.

I know the answer to the 155mph question but I'm not fueling the debate and encouraging people to try it.

as far as hitting a governor, you should try a 09 subaru wrx, tops out at 140, but when you hit that speed though, you do not even feel it kick in, you just stop accelerating (i think they just drop the boost down or something[or just close the TB some), instead of killing spark or fuel)(also same thing happens when you hit redline accidentally, very hard to tell it is even bouncing off the rev limiter)
as far as accelerating to 140, kinda slow some, turbo is choking the motor at the higher rpms

Tires are no longer a limiting factor with most sporty or luxo-sport cars now, given all the OEM Z and W speed-rated tires in use.
#52
and btw Z-rated tires are only 149+

i think part of the speed limiting for the auto, is just how much power it does indeed soak up compared to the manual (shit with baseline dynos, i gained like 40hp to the wheels)(but also for my auto, it did not help either that 5th gear was completely worn down to the backing plates in the clutch pack, with losing all that power; or was it done in 4th gear instead )

Clutch wear for the autos is completely fixable with a non FM fluid. Having the clutches worn won't affect power until they start slipping.

That's good to know. I was wondering if for some odd reason they fitted the 5at Type S with lower speed rated tires. So with that out, I wonder if it's some left over governor maybe for the RL???
#56
It's not the transmission mechanically. Let's just say my stock 5at base has seen north of 150mph. The Type S 5at with more hp is electronically limited to 133 or 135, can't remember which one. It's painfully slow past 130mph. If there was a governor at 150, it would be extremely hard to tell the difference in an electronic governor or hitting the drag limited top speed because it climbs so slow.
