Too good to be true???
Too good to be true???
I was looking through my area's Craigslist for Acura TLs cause that's one of my hobbies and I came across this post. I was wondering if it's one of ours and if the deal is too good to be true. Normally I usually don't look at 'too good to be true' deals twice but the seller is very confident and even offering to take it to a dealership for inspection.....what do y'all think? I'm even tempted on upgrading my 04 now.

Honestly the price isn't too off I don't think -- the price has come down.
I remember when I was looking for a type-s 6spd. There were like 10 in the country or something crazy like that, and they were asking low to mid 20s just because it was stick. Then (thankfully) I bought the TSX and literally a month later the same cars were going for around 17,000/18,000. And the automatics -- forget it. They were even cheaper because there was just a rediculous amount of used ones for sale at the time.
So yeah -- just based on the numbers that I have seen I think that it isn't "too good to be true." But, I am just weary about making THAT big of a purchase on Craigslist.
And -- I would ask for the VIN number if you are really serious about it.

got the GT-R used with low miles. the MR and sportback are new. traded the TL for the MR to make the payments next to nothing. bonus took care of Godzilla
the sportback was a needed DD since both other cars are hilariously thirsty.

It's pretty low, I'd guess salvage title. I see few bargains on Craigslist, but lots of ridiculous asking prices. I'd disagree that '07s are actually going for $19,000 to 23,000 - that's way high from my view.
Someone was selling this car one eBay stating that it had a salvage title
Actually, it is on ebay

because the type-s bumper has a flared-out molding to it on the sides, whereas the base bumper is flat and very uniform.
Same applies for the sideskirts - on the type-s, they flare a bit in the rear where they mold up to the back of the rear doors. On the base, they are again, flat and uniform.

Seller could be looking for a quick sale. I've noticed cars on CL for months and months when they are not priced properly. 07 is 6+ years old now and later this year will be 2 Generations old!
Not sure if there are auctions in the areas each of you live in, but could easily snatch that car for around that price at an auction.

2007 ACURA TL TYPE S has 68500 miles on it and it still looks and smells brand new. It has every option in the book in this model. This car has navigation, moonroof, dark wood interior, back up camera, and more.

Saw this car on www.autotrader.ca in the Montreal region. He's asking $14700 for the car, which is an 07 6mt type-S with 58000 kilometres, or 36K miles for you Yanks.

I emailed the seller to get info about the history of the car. Here is my email to him:
Hello, A few questions about your car: - Has it ever been in any accidents or had any paintwork done on it? Has there ever been any water damage in the car? - Is it a Canadian or U.S. car? - Do you have the VIN?
Here is his reply:
Hi there,
The car is still for sale . It has an clear title, it is certified and e-tested, no accidents a perfect vehicle. I am terribly sorry for the late reply but I am currently in Manchester,UK on a business trip. The car has the steering wheel on the left side and for this reason it is very difficult to find a buyer because here we drive right side. I'm trying to sell it at this price because I don`t use it anymore (the steering wheel is on left side and it' very difficult for me to drive it), it `s a pity to keep such a car and not to use it. The car is located in Canada.
Email me if you are interested and I can find a way for you to get the car.
Thanks.
So what do you guys think? Scam or no scam?
