Today is a great day!

I don't post very much on this website. I'm just more of a lurker. I purchased a '06 TL for use as a daily driver the day after New years this year and over several months I read on this website where numerous peoples cars were getting in accidents. Hoping and praying to god that would never happen to me didn't do me any good. On July 5th I got rear ended by some dumba$$ kid while sitting at the drive thru window of a local fast food restaurant. The kid had apparently tried stealing something from someone and hops into his girlfriends car trying to get away from the people he tried stealing from. For some stupid reason he decides to enter the drive thru where I'm sitting and tries jumping the curb just to the right of my car to get away from the guys that were chasing them in their vehicle. Needless to say the idiot ends up hitting my car then fleeing the scene on foot leaving his little 17year old girlfriend there.

The girls parents who are the owners of the vehicle had tried to file charges for unauthorized use of a mvr even though the girls boyfriend really had permission to drive the vehicle. The young girl had stated to the cops that he did, but apparently then lied to her parents saying he didn't. Anyways I have been dealing with their insurance carrier Progressive ever since this incident happened trying to get them to cover the damages to my vehicle.

Finally after all of this time and the arguments I've made Progressive has finally decided to accept liability and pay for the repairs to my car. Now I can't wait to get my car back looking like new again!!!

DAMN!

At least you caught who it was (indirectly, though).

Imagine if he hit and run? =(

Glad insurance went well.

Post pics of the repaired TL when it's done =)

damn man that sux ... wrong place wrong time, what can you do? ... anyway make sure you take it to the best body shop in your area to get it looking just like new. As a side note the tail light does make the back look cleaner the way it is, maybe you should swap over to clear taillights would make the rear end look cleaner esp, on that color

It's going in the shop this afternoon. I'm thinking there may be a small amount of frame damage as well, but I'll know for sure once they tear it down.

lol I had the same thought when this first happened. I might make the switch after it gets fixed. I just know once I make a change to something on the car I won't stop. I'm doing my best to leave it just as it is since it's a daily driver.

I will never enter another drive thru again lol

Desert Mist Metallic. U don't see to many of them around and that's why I bought it. Just something different from everyone else. I've only seen 1 here in OK with the same color.

is it a 6mt? that would make it the ultimate TL sleeper ... looks completely luxury from the outside but on the inside it has the 6spd tranny

I would've been on foot after him. Glad it's getting taken care of. Under those circumstances I think my neck would've hurt pretty bad.

Well luckily the curb he tried jumping took the brunt of the impact or it would have been much worse than it was.

Dropped by the body shop today and discovered a little more damage like I thought there would be. Little damage to the floor pan, rear body panel and bent one of the brackets holding the nav. Should hopefully be good as new in couple of weeks.

if u want after you get the car back you should go after the insurance company for depreciated value. you can get a nice check that you can use to buy new wheels or help pay off the car note faster

I was in a hit & run last year, I regret not getting a check for depreciated value. It could be a pretty penny too, with the amount of damage you have.

Either way, this went down a lot better than it could've, at least the boyfriend didn't drive away.
