Although we all know that the TL comes from the Ohio plant. Can anyone definitively answer where the major components are manufactured? When I purchased my 00 TL, the dealer said the engine/powertrain and other major components are made in Japan and assembled together with other local made components at the Ohio plant?
Anybody in the know can answer/verify this?

 

engine and i'm pretty sure tranny are made in the U.S. Most of the electronics are probably japanese

 

I can tell you that mine (vin in the 1600's) had the AT made in Japan (the window sticker shows final assembly location and for the AT it showed Japan).

Not sure about the higher vins?

 

But, the sticker said Transmission is from Japan, and the engine is by US.

It said 15% parts from Japan, which should include Tansmission. Maybe Marysvile plant also assembles Transmission in US after getting parts from Japan. This may save some costs.

 

1st gen = everything is from japan. engine, transmission, assembled, etc.. oh and 1st gen dont have tranny issues

 

The TL much like the Accord is almost all American. The transmission continues to be built in Japan.

 

So in case anybody asks, all those supposedly crappy tranny's come directly from momma honda Japan.

 

Salesman told me that engine and tranny came from Japan.

What do they know, anyway?
