So there it is, the TL has more power per pound, therefore, is faster; with good driver.

Um you are forgetting a little thing called torque numbers and gear ratios.

Yeah just think if you added $2,000 worth of bolt-ons to the RSX... it'd be ugly.

Since the RSX is the one weighing 740lbs less its already ugly isn't it!! why yes it is! so keep your 2k worth of mods or not just to keep pace.

Ok, let's see here...

both cars have the same gear box, rule that out.

Torque:Weight
TL- .07
RSX-S- .05

Satisfied?
Again, the numbers are in favor of the TL.

Um... no they do not have the same gear box at all. The only thing they have in common is the number of gears.

You really have no idea what you are talking about.

You aren't comparing apples to apples. You said that if the TL lost 740lbs it wouldn't even be a close race. Same goes if you add $2,000 worth of bolt-ons to the RSX.

The 3rd Gen TL is not a fast car.

I'm right, your wrong, shut-up.

And yes, the TL is a fast car; unless of course, you own a couple of Ferraris

No I'm not. I don't care how fast they look on paper. My opinion is based on what I've actually seen at the track and on the street.

Ok, you won this one, only because you claim to have seen the two cars race; I havn't so I can't really argue, I still think the numbers are in favor of the TL by far. Oh well, good fight.

As it stands the TL is the quicker/faster car given it weighs 740lbs more so what would the outcome be if you pared off the 740lbs??? a boring race.

Now if ya wanna use the mentality of adding mods you could go round and round back and forth all day long...geeeezzzz. Now keep your cuz you'll need it for mods.

Gear Ratios:

^ Clearly you can see the transmissions are not the same.

Also the new SAE ratings push the 3rd Gen TL's numbers down to around 258 horsepower and the '05 RSX to around 205.

Steve-I destroy RSX type-S all the time, even modded ones. My friend owns an 05 with intake + exhaust and its not that fast. True there are alot more performance upgrades availbale for the RSX, and you CAN make it faster than a 3G TL, but most don't take it that far or spend that kind of money.

Last time I lined up against a RSX that looked like ot might beat me it lost by almost a full second in the 1/8 mile. Most of those cars look fast but have 0 torque.

just my .02

Here's a little info for you guys. Hopefully most of you will understand it. It does require a little bit of reading but gives a great understanding of why Torque is not all is made out to be. Its kinda just like sitting behind the wheel of a 350Z or G35 and jumping into something like a RX8 or S2000 and saying it feels slower. But we all know the RX8 and S2000 put up around the same numbers in a straight line. A cars Redline helps alot! And in some cases with a good driver, better numbers in the straight line.

Hopefully most of you understood the above.

Gosh it seems like with all this evidence of RSX-S losing to the TL Mr. Steve would believe .

Gosh it seeems like this is a TL forum and obviously there is a bias.

What evidence are you talking about? 1 person's account of beating an RSX-S?

Mr. Steve - No, I'm actually talking about the three people on this thread that have made fairly strong cases against what you have said about the RSX-S running all over the TL, including blktl1, 6speedv6, and JS + TL. Look back through the thread and you'll see them, even though you should have seen their posts since you've been in it since the beginning.

Stop responding to the Clown.

I wouldnt post about it if I hadnt routinely beaten them. The numbers in the mags ALSO support our claims here, and since they are equally crude towards Acura it's all even.

Mags = TL.
Real life = TL.

stock v. stock of course.

Dont feed the clown anymore.

You 3rd Gen TL guys are a bunch of thin skinned whiney pussys I swear.

Can't accept the fact that a 4-cylinder car has the ability to hang with you.

TL 6-Speed vs. RSX-S = driver's race
TL Auto vs. RSX-S = win for the RSX as long as it is driven properly (i.e., good shifting).

Oh and in the corners there's no contest. The handling of the RSX is definitely superior to the TL. However it weighs alot less so this is to be expected.

First of all, I'm a 1st Gen TL guy who happens to like the 3rd gen. Second of all, no one here is whining, but rather trying to make a point. I'm not trying to ignite anything again, but the closest thing to whining has been your refusal to believe several people who have actually raced these cars and won, 6mt or 5at. Your only support comes from you claiming you have seen them race at the track. I, however, am going to trust the other people who have actually done the race for themselves. Even if I didn't read this thread, I would have said the 3rd gen would always win in a straight line. The only person who can't accept anything is YOU.

I've said all along it's a driver's race when you compare the 6MT to the RSX. Yet all the TL owners are saying no way, they'll beat the RSX every time.

Thanks Ken.

From a roll the race is even closer. I've seen similar trap speeds from both cars (94-96 MPH).

And again, I know we are comparing stock vs. stock but...

Add intake and exhaust to the TL and you might trap around 98-99 MPH
Add the same mods to the RSX and you'll also trap around 98-99 MPH.
Add a race header to the RSX and it'll smoke any 3rd Gen TL out there. (100+ MPH trap)
Add Hondata K-Pro and the TL gets embarassed.

i have a hard time believing any 3G TL beats the new rsx-s..as mrsteve clearly stated before, the new engines are no joke. i'd believe anybody beating the 02 version rsx-s, but the new ones have new engines, new ratios, etc. regardless whether or not it's from a roll or a dig, rsx-s should win, especially considering the TL overdrive blows balls if it's anything like the cl-s'. given equal drivers, rsx-s should win every time.

Well, there are other 4 cylinders that can blow us both, TL's and RSX's, totally stock. The Elise comes to mind.

Well, since you are trying to puss-out for the October track day, pick another date, another track, another event. You wanna try Summit Point or Watkins Glen ??? I'll show ya my cars exhaust first hand. And stock vs. stock, I'll even let you be up front at the beginning. Better yet, bring your ma to VIR on her B-Day weekend.

Let's stay with the stock vs. stock. Get any of the two a 100 shot of NOS and it all changes.
