i am not sure about now, but they used to have VTEC in F1 in the late 80s didn't they?

the VTEC was orginally came from F1
The highest revving engines in F1 are now pushing 19,000 RPM.

I'm reasonbly certain that ALL of them can (and do) rev safely to at least 18,000 RPM.

They don't make "10,000 HP"

The NHRA claims 8,000 HP and 6,000 HP is the most often quoted (and in my mind, believable) figure:

http://www.nhra.com/streetlegal/funfacts.html

I'm sure some overly-enthusastic people out there CLAIM they make "10,000 HP," but that doesn't mean it's fact.

They aren't normally aspirated, either.

The engines we're discussing are.

And the engines we're discussing burn gasoline (only) and can run for more than 1,320 feet before requiring a complete teardown/rebuild.

I don't know much about F1 but I understand they are not normally aspirated either. Turbocharged?

Formula 1 engines are NORMALLY ASPIRATED. There is no blower of any kind. And they burn GASOLINE.

Here's Shirley Muldowney's website, which claims 5,000 HP for her top fuel dragster:

http://www.muldowney.com/specs.html

Tony Schumacher (current) claims "6,000 plus" HP for his top fuel dragster.

http://www.tonyschumacher.com/dragster.shtml

None of those engines are producing anything close to 10,000 HP.

Yes I took some time to read up on F1, must have been confused with Indy cars.

May not be as smooth but, I'll take the power of the VQ35.
