TL-Type S Tire pressure problem

Hi guys just wondering if any of you with the tire pressure system on your cars are having problems with it. In the morning when its really cold it gives me a malfuction but after a while the car warms up and the system reports normal. Just wondering if temperature of the tire has anything to do with the pressure system monitoring. Im thinking the cold contracts air causing 28 psi sometime 27 but once the tires warm up it gets to 30-31 psi. Just wanted some thoughts on this.

Does it show a "malfunction", or is it saying the pressure is low? In cold weather, the pressure drops. Tires are always supposed to have the proper pressure in them WHEN COLD. So, you probably need to put some air in...

yeah it is telling you that your tire pressure is low. just put some more air in.

I agree, if I remember it is like 1psi for every 10 deg F. So when you start driving and the tires get up to temperature, the pressure goes up. Check your tire pressure when the tires are cold ... remember to have an accurate gauge. ;-) I hope it helps and that this is the problem.

I know I have to put extra air in my tires when it gets colder.

Good stuff Ill add some air.....

But if I add more air will I get error with too much pressure.

I believe the system only alerts you when the tire is under inflated. I believe if you look inside your door, or around that general area, you will see a label that shows build date and other information about your vehicle. On that label it should tell you what the tire pressure should be cold. Inflate your tires to that pressure and let it rip. My CL says each tire should be at 32 PSI cold. Make sure the tire is cold before adding any air. Good luck

My moms company car also does that (06 DTS) but she thinks its ok and seems to be fine. I think when she brought the car in for service though she had them fix it though.

Your tire pressure is too low. My TL-S is supposed to have 35psi front and 32 rear when cold. All of mine were about equal arounbd 29 or 30 when warm when the car was delivered. The next morning, when I started the car it was cold enough that I got a tire pressure warning like you are getting. Driving warmed the tires enough to make the warning go away, but the dealer delivered the car with the tires improperly inflated. I just filled them to the proper cold pressure (when they were cold) and it's been fine every since. I suggest you do the same.
