TL with Type S parts..

i've been browsing a bunch and have seen a lot of guys putting type S wheels on, or type S tailights...

are they POSERs and looked down on true type S owners?

or is it generally accepted by all TL owners, type S or not?

OR is the general response "to each their own"

i just picked up an '05 Anthro Metallic TL on saturday, first post ayoooo

well i don't think anyone is throwing on the 'type-S' emblems and pretending they actually have a typeS when they don't so they're not really posers. people just like some of the newer lights etc so TO EACH HIS/HER OWN!

To each his own.

I don't think anyone (at least the vast majority) is posing.

Well, except ...........

I too have an AM. I have the type s sidemarkers and tails just because I think it looks better with the color of my car. I do not have the wheels but I would not be against getting them. I put the type s lights on just because I like them, not because I want people to think I have a type s.
IMO if someone is putting a type s badge on thier car and it really is not a type s, that is strange. If they really wanted a type s or wanted people to think they had a type s they should have just spent a lil more to get the type s.

Welcome to AZ. Tuning cars is an art. Everyone has their own perception of an aesthetic appeal to customize a personal car.

Put whatever the hell you want on it, it's your choice, your taste. Just don't try to race me, that lil type-s badge won't help ya

As an owner of a Type-S, I do not "look down on" anyone putting Type-S parts on their base TL. It does further justify my decision to go ahead and go for the Type-S

Micah welcome man! As an owner of a NBP-TYPE-S I have NEVER, or never would began the thought of "looking down" on another who had TYPE-S parts (now the emblem would not be cool), but have yet to see it- and doubt there is. There are countless of TL's on here with TL-S tails, or sidemarkers, and they look SO HOT! Some perfer the base tails, other the TYPE-S, get what YOU WANT BRO!

People could go ahead and replace the Acura symbol with a lambo one for all I care.

If its a type-s owner looking they'll know what you got and wont care, anyone else who talks trash just wishes they had a TL.
We all love modding here so if adding different lights ect looks sick, then mod mod mod!

I have an AM with the S-Type rear marker lights since they blend in very nice with the paint. I have no interest in the S wheels or tails which to me are overdone.

I saw a 2nd G TL-S with 3rd G TL-s badge. Looked kind of odd.

usually honda/acura owners swap in whatever the jdm market has, but since this car isn't available in japan, they gravitate to whatever is newer
ie. alot of peeps like both versions of 07/08 rear lights...

and many like the type s headlights because they have a fake cf in there
and also sidemarkers because they are stealthy

the rear lip because they like quads
the front lip because they want lower fogs

get the idea

Nobody here is a poser. You will find that whatever mods someone decides to put on their TL, it is accepted by all TL owners, regardless if they are Type S or not. Shit, a member here with a Type S just recently put in stock '04 lights because he likes them better than the Type S lights! See, everyone has their own opinion on things! (Now the only thing I would find weird and unorthodox is if a base TL truly did have the Type S badge on, that wouldn't sit too well with me lol).

I have a SSM TL and also have the TLS sidemarkers and lights. Why? Not because I want to be a TLS wannabe, but because I truly like the lights better than the stock ones. And Especially the color of the tails matches the color of my car very well too (and accents the A-Spec body kit nicely too). I like the TLS wheels as well but wouldn't consider putting them on my car. I probably won't even get any wheels but if I were to I would choose the gunmetal A-Specs .

Like everyone said before, to each their own.

I agree with the above sentiments. When I bought my '08, there were certain things I liked about the TL-S and certain things about the Base, so I took the best (IMO) of both and am putting them together. Example:

Things I like about TL-S over base
-Rear side marker
-Chrome grill and trim
-Engine

Things I liked about base over TL-S
-Interrior
-Tail lights
-Wheels
-Polished Metal Metallic Paint
-Blue interrior lights

So in the end, I felt the best compromise was an '08 PMM base w\ nav, TL-S side markers and grill.

To me, getting the exterior color I wanted and the type of interior that I wanted was more important than the engine (although that 3.5L would have been nice...) but the 3.2 is leaps and bounds over my old car!

+ 1 with everybody's comment nobody's poser you put on ur car what u like and makes u feel good of course i would not put a Type-s badge on a none type-s even though i seen one on here and they did knock him a little lol but its all good at the end the guy took it off. Some guy's mod their cars here and do all sorts of upgrades it wouldn't surprise me if a hooked up none Type-s TL could beat a stock type-s i think its been posted here before too.

Type S sidemarkers and tails on your base TL = no problem. I will put the Type S sidemarkers on my NBP, but I like the red tails and think they look good tinted black. Welcome to the forums Micah!

most people that dont drive a TL wouldnt really know if it was a base or type s, so its more for ascetic appeal. The type S tails look nicer, and if someone but the type s badge on there base they would get

True. I bet 95% of people out there have no clue. In fact I bet at least 50% of TL owners have no clue. Look at all the moms out there that have a TL, I see tons of them. I'm sure they have no clue.

very clean del sol. i have one also.

as for the thread topic, there are many parts on the type s that didnt come on the 04-06's and if i had a 04-06 i wouldnt mind upgrading to type s parts. its like saying not to buy aftermarket parts for your car. on the note- i have seen a 04-06 with a type s badge before lol.

I want the quad Type S exhaust and the smoked rear side markers. Other than that, I will keep my base aspec.
