TL Type S or G35 S
Trying to decide between a 2008 TL Type S and a 2008 Infiniti G35 S. Just drove the Acura and liked it a lot. It doesn't quite keep up with Infiniti in terms of performance and it's a shame the Acura doesn't have ipod control through the Nav unit. But I think I like the look and styling of the Acura better. Really like the Kinetic Blue Pearl. Price wise they are within a few hundred dollars of each other with similar options. The Acura dealer did quote me a really low money factor so I would be able to get a little better deal assuming I could get the car for a good bit off MSRP. The Infiniti can be had for close to invoice pricing, but their money factor is more than twice that of Acura. Decisions, decisions. I'll probably drive both cars again this weekend before I decide. Why did some of you choose your Type S?

Depending of what you want..
performance go with the g, but i love my tl-s because its still a LUXURY sedan. real nice interior, roomy, overall comfortable. Why the type s?!?! why not?!?!?! more horses and standard navi, you cant go wrong.. and its fast haha
if you decide to go with the TL go with the type s... you wont regret it,

I drove a number of cars before i bought my type s. Infinity g35s, 3 series, used 5 series, charger, wrx, maximas, the accord, and i gotta say for value as far as dependablity and standard options the type-s is where its at. Sure it may lack a little in the performance, but its not a racey type car. You can easily outfit the car with more Hp decenty cheap. plus mechanical wise if even 1/2 ass taken care of it will be sure to delight you for years and 100's of 1000s of miles. plus the TL-s has alot of cools stuff like bluetooth, dvd audio, a nice nav (which cn be easily made to play tv/dvd etc), rear view cam, auto everything imaginable, and to me just has an overall baller status about it. everytime someone gets in my car for the first time i usually get good comments on the "cool" interior. its when you start driving that you notice the wow factor.

My best friend had a G35. It was a fun car but waaaaay too small. Yes, it's a fast car, yes it has sleek lines, but I've had my sports car already. I wanted a car with more than just a sports car look to it. The TL Type S gave me everything the G35 had and more. Plus, it gave me room for more than 2 people to enjoy. When I tell people I bought an Acura TL, everyone knows what that is and are impressed. With the G35, it's almost like a cult thing...if you have to explain the car to someone, it loses the luster.

I think you should just test drive both of them and just buy whichever one you like more. if your gonna ask people on a acura forum, of course they are gonna say TL is better than a g35. same thing goes for infiniti forum. the bad thing about TL is they have transmission problems. I think its too early to tell about the new type s but the 2nd gen CL/TL has horrible transmission and even some of the 3rd gen.

You should test drive both cars to get a better first hand experience .... like the other poster said, if you ask around here in a Acura forum, the opinion will be overwhelming pro type-s ...

I came down to the same two cars you're considering. Several things pushed me to the TL-S including size (backseat; trunk), features and price. The differences are pretty obvious - RWD/FWD; 285 v. 305...
I have 4 young kids and do a bit of soccer/basketball/baseball hauling. Not a good backseat or trunk in the G.
I live in a snow climate. Although I'm not too deterred by RWD in snow - it's actually better in many situations - the FWD made more sense. Still, my wife drives it occasionally and the RWD would have been an issue for her. (Will someone please make an AWD with MT - and don't say Audi).
I prefer the interior of the TL. I felt that the G35 was a Nissan when I got in. Nice, but too much plastic feel, IMO.
I liked the features on the TL - most of which (and some more) are AVAILABLE on the G, but with packages and even more price.
In the end, I was able to get the TL for significantly less than the G35s, and I'm pretty sure the same would be true today. I didnt' feel the G35 justified the additional cost of acquisition. I will admit that my only Infiniti dealer was bad to deal with - plus every G35 they had came with ~ 1k miles on it 'new' thanks to their apparent benefit of a G35 to every employee (no kidding).
I went with the TL-S 6mt and haven't regretted it a bit.

Oh yeah - the ipod control was in earlier TL's, but they had problems with it and canned it.
G35 definitely has more giddy up (esp the S). Are you buying it to drag? In the end, its not that much quicker.
I think the TL looks better.
