TL Type S!? Black/White? Auto/Stick?

Alright so as some of you may already know i had a 2005 Acura TSX and it was totalled on July 10th the day i got back from vacation. I dont feel like telling the story but long story short.... I was t boned into a pole and now im looking into getting a 2008 TL Type S. But my dilemma is Black or White and Auto or Stick.

I go to school at Univ Of Rhode Island and that's like a 2.5 hr drive from where i live and i drive up and down every 2 or so weeks. I had an automatic TSX becasue it was my first car so my parents set restrictions on me even though i bought it myself...weird huh. Anyway.... i also have a house off campus with a few friends so would the daily commute be a hassle in stick? So taking both those into consideration... would you guys/gals advise getting it in stick or staying with auto?

And then choosing white or black is killing me because i love both colors and they both look really good but i cant make up my mind. So please help me make up my mind and looking forward to owning the car you guys speak so highly of.

If you're going to be in school, with not a lot of time to clean your car, get Silver. You're 19 get the 6spd.

WDP although Silver and Anthracite are good alternates. Black is cursed and requires extra care to look good all the time.

Get the stick. You'll have more fun and that'll be worth in the long run.

Wish my wife could drive stick, cause that's what we'd have. But, since it's her daily driver, .... . The auto is fun though, just not quite as much fun.

I prefer the look of dark colors and black is one of the best (I have the KBP on the TL-S and black on the TL). But understand, black is a unforgiving paint color and needs washing constantly. Also to care for black paint properly, you must avoid using any poly in the towels you use to wash/wax the vehicle otherwise, you will have swirls in the paint. You may also want to look at Zaino for paint care. White does not show dirt as bad, and is much cooler in the summer.

As for the auto / manual debate, The manual will turn this car into a beast and is favored by most of the members here. The manual will also allow you to get better gas mileage. The auto is one of the best autos I have ever driven. The auto will also make the car easier to sell and improve trade in value. I don't know if this choice will effect insurance rates or not. When I bought mine I only considered the auto after I tried the paddle shifters. They were good enough for my needs when I drive the car hard. But autos do rob power, and in curves don't always shift when I want them to.

I just got the Black as well. I think the TL-S looks the best in black! 6MT also.

I used to have a 99 Mustang GT 5-spd. Lots of fun... Very hard to keep clean. (White is almost as hard to keep looking good).

I got tired of driving a stick in bumper to bumper traffic. But I commute every day not every two weeks. Besides getting stick will discourage your family and friends from borrowing your car.

Enjoy your choice.

My vote is for the NBP with 6MT. You are in college, go for the manual tranny. Save the auto tranny for when you get married and have kids!

If you're going to be in school, do not shackle yourself to a $38K car payment... You will never have the fun like you're having in school. Save the pimp ride for after you get the pimp job... get a beater you don;t care about so when your idiot friend pukes in the back seat, you don;t care so much.

but you're 19, and that means you don't listed to us old timers...

WDP on Ebony/Silver or KBP/Silver. That silver/white leather does it for me. GAWD.

Although, I'll never do black leather again... too hot in the summer.

Good luck with the Type-S it's a nice car, just make sure you get it in WDP and save up for some nice wheels.

I had dark colors all my life until I bought a silver TL, it hides the dirt really good. Plus the lighter colors show of the TL's nice lines better.

I went to dealer again last night and it's a tough decison between white and black. Theyre running out of 07's so i might not even have a choice between 6MT or Auto. I'd only get an 07 to save myself a few thousand... which im sure everyone would like to do lol. But if they run out... then my options are open again. Im getting reallllly impatient cuz the car is so nice.

Looks like everyone on the forums leaning towards black... and a few whites but not too many. Also, the people at the dealership are pushing me towards black... decisions decisions...

I was a stickler on the color and trans that i wanted. My dealer had to have my Type-S shipped in from another dealer, they didnt have any NBP 6MT on their lot. If you want a specific color and trans, stick to your guns, make the dealer find you one and get it. if they dont, then they dont deserve your business.

I am curious to drive the 5AT Type-S, cause i know the non Type-S 5AT is not that great (IMO). Also, being in NYC, do you not have a lot of Acura dealers? And i hear ya about being impatient ... i can be the same way.

I have a NBP (black) TL and just love it as does almost everyone else but I think if I were able to choose now I'd stick with a WDP (white) Black shows every little scratch and spec of dirt..it sucks. Still love it though! And I think you should be better off with automatic!

Get white with the 6 speed manual. If you have spare time to keep clean, get black.

But get the manual. I wish I did on my TL-S. Crap.
