TL A-Spec Package

Just wondering, does anyone else have the A-Spec package with their TL? Just got mine. Pretty hot car, but was also told was pretty rare at this point in time.

Nice car Aegir. I got mine already on the lot at the dealer. There was a black hawk pearl A-Spec at the dealer with the chrome rims also. I was wondering what one would look like with those rims. Now I know.

Yeah, I still have not figured out what is so special about the steering wheel except the blue stiching. But to be a $500 option by itself? Is that accurate or did I miss something when I was being shown the additions with the A-Spec package? I am very impressed with the car.

A-Spec body kit color mis-match?

Cdn04TL:

Like you I have a "no navi but I did add the A-Spec body kit with lip spoiler and 18" wheels...."

Mine is anthracite and I chose Goodyear Eagle F1's.

I have not driven with these tires much because my car has been at the dealer for the last few weeks (have a new black TSX as a loaner :smokin: )

I experienced a considerable difference in color mis-match on the ground effects when compared to the car paint. I felt the color differences are too much to put up with considering the source of the kit being Acura. The dealership got the DS involved and I am now getting the issue resolved. It has come down to having the parts re-painted because re-ordered parts came in even a few further shades off.

I wonder if Anthracite is the only color having this color mis-matching issue with the A-Spec Body Kits???

Hey Spurs !
nice choice in colors.....i like the Anthracite as well but it is only available up here with the dynamic package.....i'm lazy so i chose the auto....interesting you have mismatched colors.....i know someone that also experienced that with their Audi A4 which was painted in Gray.....maybe the fact it is Gray Metallic has something to do with it.....good luck to you......

It seems the words from dealer's mouth make you pretty happy.

Congratulations, your new ride.

That's because of the high entry price to join the A-Spec club.

How does it handle

Enough about how it looks...how does it handle? When Acura starts to sell the A Spec seperately I may buy the shocks and springs. But I might buy Koni shocks and Eibach springs if the A Spec isn't up to snuff.

Here are some of my observations:

Wider tire patch, improved tires, and improved weight transfer improve traction in both launching and cornering. I think the weight transfer improvements have been underreported and not given enough credit. The improved traction has reduced 'torque steer' type steering wheel feedback. If the tires stay planted there is no torque steer. The wider tires also increase steering effort a bit and improve steering feel. 'Road feel' and responsiveness are excellent. Nose dive when braking is gone. Body lean when cornering at high speeds is significantly reduced. That 'floating' sensation over up and down pavement at freeway speeds is gone. The car settles very quickly. Handling is much more neutral. Understeer/oversteer response is dependent on brake/throttle application. I can now enter turns aggressively and power through sharp low speed turns. Ride quality is firm but not harsh – noticeably firmer than before, but still OEM quality.

Concerning using aftermarket springs and dampers: Currently no one else has come out with a matched spring and damper kit yet. Damping can be adjusted on many shocks, but it's a pain to do in the TL. I can almost guarantee that few owners will be willing to disassemble their TL to make shock adjustments. When the time and effort that goes into determining optimum spring and damping rates is considered, the Acura kit is a bargain. Another consideration is that the Acura springs/dampers come preassembled, which cuts down install time and cost.

I was not as sold by what the dealer had to say as I was the car itself. I had done several months of research prior to going to the dealer. The A-Spec I bought was actually one the dealer used as the test drive car. However, it was only driven this way for 1 week. I did get the dealer to come down on the price some for this very reason.

I do have the 6 spd MT. Waiting until I get tags to totally open it up. There are no other TL's in the city I live in, so I am especially one of a kind at this point in time. Just a question, how much have you A-Spec owners paid for your car?

I paid $37,750 + T/L for TL 6MT non-navi with all season floor mats, trunk mat, wheel locks and door edge guards which is ~$2000 under invoice as far as I can tell. No one knows what invoice is on the A-SPEC package. MSRP is $5200 + $1300 to install.

I paid 39,900 for the A-spec with navi, 6 speed. I think it was a fairly competitive price. But don't quote me on it either.

That is a high price of admission. I'll stay on the plebian side of the base TL.

What kind of tires are you using on the A-spec. I just called my dealer today and he told me that I had to get the Pirelli tires that came with it. If I wanted a different set of tires I would have to order it on my own. Now to all the A-spec owners what kind of tires did you get and what size ??? This is my biggest headache ...*sigh* Please give me some info... I was thinking 245/40/18 ???????

Pirelli P-Zero Nero M+S 245/40/18. I installed A-Spec post-purchase, which enabled me to utilize different tires.

Pireli tires do not come with the package, Yokohama AVS ES100 235/40ZR-18 come with A-Spec, unless something happened between now and a couple of weeks ago. I am getting mine changed to Toyo Proxes 4 245/40/18. Who's your dealer.
