Smile TL-S vs TL (under bridge shots)... and a story

Hey guys. So it's been awhile since I've posted. This year, I made a goal of trying to be more creative and writing, etc etc. So I will count this post as part of my writing process ;P

Anyway, I helped a buddy buy a pretty sweet 05 TL 6 speed for a steal. A couple days later, we decided to go for a drive and sorta got lost and found a pretty sweet spot under some bridges. We took some pics, unfortunately with my phone, so there is a lot of grainyness, but nonetheless, some pretty cool shots were still captured. Take a peek.

So my buddy is sorta new to driving spirited, and wanted to have some fun from a roll. His base TL 6 speed only has an endless catback exhaust, and my TL-S 6 speed has the RV6 j-pipe and Fujita cold air intake. Both on Tein coilovers and everything else stock. After a few lineups from 30 and 40mph with 2nd and 3rd gear starts, it's clear the Type S is much faster.

After we thought we were done, we're on our way home and then suddenly a G37 and 370Z come up really fast out of nowhere and wanted to play. The G37 lines up next to me first and we're about 50mph; I'm in 3rd gear, and the 3 honks start, and as soon as I hit the gas, I start pulling ahead steadily, and then once in 4th gear, I'm like 2-3 cars ahead at least. I slow down, and then I see him try to try to line up next to my buddy's TL.

At this time, the 370Z gets next to me and I see that he's got his cellphone on recording. We're rolling around 40mph, I downshift into the end of 2nd gear and then immediately I hear the 3 honks. I barely am in 2nd gear for like a split second before redline, then shift into 3rd. Once in 3rd, I'm pulling ahead, and by 4th gear, I'm like 1-2 car lengths ahead. I was shocked! No one had a better jump than the other, so I was quite impressed with how the TL-S performed.

I haven't really raced or done that sort of thing for years, so it was pretty exhilarating. Now I don't condone illegal street racing or anything, but I thought I'd share my random story after my buddy's and my little under bridge shots. Oh... what happened to the G37 vs Base TL? I think my buddy said he kept up with him, but I don't know if they necessarily had a straight lineup. After we got home, he started watching youtube videos on how to shift better etc etc lol.

I started tiktok this year, and will probably be posting on youtube with some TL reviews etc etc. If anyone is interested, just look me up as ininjau

welp, at least I know I'm a better driver than he is ;p

i've owned a g37 and 370z before, and definitely could've sworn they were faster cars. maybe at a 40-50 mph roll it's different? i'm not sure cuz I never raced my g37 or 370z.
