TL-S vs S2000?

Never saw anything cool about the S2000 unless your a chic. I wouldnt do it unless you want to drive around in something the size of a go-kart with about the same amount of torque.
If you want a two seater get something with power...like that silver thing in my avatar ;-)

I had an s2000 and let me tell you, I missed that thing all the time, it makes a great weekend car not a daily driver, it is very cramped, if your taking your girlfriend or wife, the purse is very close to her leg making it a bit uncomfy. But the fun aspect is like no other, rwd, 240hp for a 4 cylinder. It's a blast but don't expect any low end torque, or any torque for that matter (Hold On Not Done Accelerating= Honda). But I will tell you this, it is a sexy car, everywhere I went people complemented me on it, I had a berlina black which is a deep gloss black, it was nice. I got rid of it because snow was an issue for this car, even though I should have gotten snow tires, and it was really cramped for my daily needs. If you ski/snowboard your done. But like I said it's a great weekend car, you can take those highway off ramps nearly twice as fast with ap2 handling, and it's fun to be able to control the fish tail as well. Would I trade in my tl for it, no. You can't lean the seats back and the steering is unmovable.

never driven a s2k before but all these people saying the s2k is a chick car are crazy.
the scion tc or new mitsu eclipse are more of a chick car than the s2k in my eyes.
i wouldn't mind owning both cars though. the tl-s for more room, and the s2k when i feel like being peppy. 260hp for a 4 cylinder the size of a miata is a beast...

my gf had a ap2, all stock and i used to drive it a lot just because she wanted to take her nephew and niece out in my TL. Keep in mind that I only have a base TL auto, so i have little idea of how fun a Tl's could be, but Oh man that s2k was a lot of fun. I thought it was pretty quick, looks kinda catchy and the handling was amazing, but I think it was once-in-a-while kinda thing. After driving it for about 30 mins I started to feel a little uncomfortable and needed to stretch out my arms and legs but couldnt, and I'm only 5'8 150 lbs. If you're aiming for comfort and luxury I would definitely keep the TLs, but if you want something that is fast and sporty, and planning to mod the shit out of it then s2k is the one to go. At my school there is always a line of slammed s2k's but they're driven my guys my age (20ish). Just think about it and see which one you would prefer in the long run. I ride bike so always need some room for it.
well, just my opinions on 2 great cars, feel free to correct me guys.

Trading in the TL-S for an S2000, that would be a big NO. I had both and you almost have to have both otherwise it would be near impossible to survive with just the S2000 alone. It is not a very practical car and can't fit much in it let alone yourself. Although I miss the handling of the S2000, I can't say I miss anything else about it. The TL-S has so many features that the S2000 should have for a $30k+ car (ie, power door lock switch) but doesn't.

james,
the silver thing on your avatar is.... Amazing power, excellent looker in any color but other than that, its your typical american muscle car that has the power but no chassis to fully utulize that power in anything other than a straight line. unless its a ZR1 of course, that thing is awesome... (im a bit bias because i truly dislike american cars from my past ownership with them) if you want true rawness of a sports car in the 30k range.. the s2000 is a bang for its buck... agreed that the car might be not as torquey but nothing 2k of after market parts wont fix...
I don't know if you have driven a s2000, but i sure hope you have from your bold claim (i have driven a few "silver thing in your avatar before" once in a C5 but mainly Z06(ex coworker had one, we would switch cars for the weekend) his opinion was just like yours about the s2000 at first, but he changed his mind quite a bit...however i do respect your opinion in the sense that these two cars are completely for a different market/fan base.
as a prior s2000 owner myself (got t-boned) and a current TL owner myself (couldnt find another white s2000 and always loved the TL).. the TL has nice creature comfort/with a sporty feel to it but as for performance and handling.. s2000 is the way to go... it holds its price better than the Z and it looks a 100x better than the 350z and 370z but that's purely subjective.. however must i warn you... the space is very limited!! the seats do not recline.!! you have to go and drive the s2000 yourself to fully compare it.. No matter what anyone says, youre the one thats going to be driving it... so go give it a good 30 minute test drive.. you will notice quite a difference compared to your TL...

I would keep the TL for DD & have the AP1-AP2 as my toy car . 50/50 weight distribution & it's a super fun car. Like any other car out there, $$ on mods & it can be made fast.
I'm 5'11 170lbs & it fitted me perfect, only thing annoying about the AP1-AP2 is all the rattles it makes & drone from aftermarket exhaust due to it being a convertible. But nothing a Mugen hard top can't fix lol.

Well I respect your thoughts on both cars but I'm not sure if you have only driven C5's or what, but I will have to disagree with you saying that a C6 Z06 lacks in the handling department and has nothing special under it's composite and carbon fiber body panels. I agree you got me in that I don't have any time behind the wheel in an S2000, but I sat in one once and wanted out immediately. That was all I needed and I'm over all just not a fan of 4 cyl cars... regardless of how much power it may have. Either way though it makes no sense to compare a C6 Z06 with over 500 HP and probably 4 times the amount of torque. They are just two different cars like you said.
I'm sure the S2000 is a fun car no doubt, but I would imagine any light weight tiny car with a manual tranny would be fun to zip around in for a little while.
Sorry if I hit some people's soft spot since this is a Honda/Acura forum, but I'm just saying simply there is no way I would trade a TL for an S2K.

s2000 is an amazing car ive always wanted one, only got a chance to test drive one at the dealership. the only thing is that it is a 2 seater, wouldnt be very good for daily driver like everyone else said. How did the vette come along, i wouldnt have to think about it s2000 or TL-s over vette any day....

Earlier in the thread I said if your looking for a two seater get something with power that's how the vette got brought up. I know people all have their own opinions but man I couldn't imagine wanting a 4banger Honda over a four to five hundred horsepower beast. Not only that but S2k's are every 17 year old boys dream car (that and Evo's lol). Not the impression I would be going for.

the s2000 is just about one of the funest (sp?) cars i've ever driven, and i've driven quite a few exotics. it is definitely not a practical car to have as your only car tho, maybe for a track car.
#33
Like I said im sure the S2K is a blast to drive its just not for everyone especially if its a daily driver. Like my vette I have to have a second additional car for the daily use.

Depends on how many curves you have between your home and work, or at least how many curves you have close to home. If you don't need the room and appreciate and can actually use the handling bliss of an S2000 then go ahead and trade. I'm selling my Miata because there just isn't a place to make use of it's handling ability near me so the trade offs aren't worth it any more. If I was back in CT I'd gladly trade my TL for an S2000 and an old Civic to get me through the winter months.
#39
You couldn't pay me to trade. s2000's just don't appeal to me. At all. I like my sports cars to have a little bit of muscle, and while I'm sure the s2000 is a fun car to drive, I must admit to does seem like more of a "girls" car to me. I'm not really into the whole tuner scene though. Give me a v8 any day of the week....
