TL-S vs G35: Visual perceptions
This morning, I drove by an Infiniti dealer to check out the new '07 G35 up close. Now I'll be the first to admit that visual perceptions are totally subjective. But there are some common threads in this area. Most of us believe the 1966 Shelby AC Cobra and its sibling, the 1966 Shelby Mustang GT-350 are classic beauties. Personally, in cars such as the TL or the G35, I prefer understated elegance. With this in mind, how do the TL-S and the G35 compare strickly in the "curb appeal" arena?
G35. I thought the car commanded your attention just a little, mostly because it is a spawn of its predecessor. I do like the dual exhaust outlets, but not so much the oval openings. I would have preferred round on this car. The rear end, the bumper in particular, seems more pronounced. This gives it a somewhat ponderous appearance and the bumper reminds me of the one on the Altima.. not a positive thing. The chrome spoiler lip looks hideous. You have to wonder who came up with that idea and what they were smoking. The grill looks good as does the general appearance of the front end. I was not impressed by the interior. From what I understand, if you go with the Nav, the CD magazine gets moved to the trunk. If this is true, BIG mistake and BIG no-no. The car does not look appealing from all angles. As the angle changes more to the rear, its appeal suffers.
TL-S. This car has a subtle badness about it which I prefer. A hint of something lurking under the skin. I do not like the blinkers on the outside mirrors at all. And that's the only think I don't like about the exterior appearance of the car. Everything else looks good and smacks of the "common on, get in and drive me" feeling. I now love the wheels and the taillights are not at all a problem. The quad exhaust tips are not my favorite.. I would have preferred something else. But they're not looks killers at all. The interior? What can I say except I love it. Acura kept it so close to what is in my '04 and '05 and that is such a good thing because they just got it right the first time. As for curb appeal and angles, I have said since I bought my '04 TL that this car is flat gorgeous from every angle. Not one angle upsets the others or distracts because of cumberances. The car looks lean and trim and complimentary of itself. Form following function.
TL-S wins.

Seeing the TL-S in the showroom did not improve my opinion of the -S wheels, although the tailights don't look bad. The wheels, quad exhaust and new fog lights are not aesthetic improvements, but the TL still has wonderful lines from every angle.
SB I hate to do this to ya but we have a TL vs G35 thread already. If you would like to compare these cars some more please take this to Car Talk.
Ive made this one the official one. Great review though
