Yea, auto vs auto definitely the G35HR. It would be close with the TL-s 6MT. However, the G35 may inch it slightly.

with the respondents. Honestly when it comes to auto vs auto (stock), my money will always be on the VQ over the equivalent J-series. (That's not to say that there would not be instances where the Honda triumphs.)

I've went against my friend G37S coupe on the upstate curvy roads. In a straight line G37s pulls lovely, the moment we hit curvy roads.. the handling of my TL-S outperformed him all day long. Maybe it's the driver.

306hp RWD is definitely dominant over 286 torque crazy FWD.

i know what you meant by posting that article, but teknoking is right. even though RWD supposedly handles better, the TL's handling is superior to the G35/37 AND the IS350. the 3 cars were put to the test against each other and the TL-S won the handling test.

remember, the TL-S and the base handle differently.

Oh, I didn't know the TL's handling is superior to those cars. Look like you have done research well, do you have the link to the copmarison test of the 3? How much dif. handeling from the TL-S to the base model? Bigger wheels? Stiffer suspension? Well balance to near 50/50?

So you meant the new TL-AWD is suck right? I know you are drooling for one though. Have you ever tried those B5 S4 and see how many feet they will ripped you an extra hole?

I see some of you are confused between AWD and 4WD...

All-wheel-drive is engaged under 19 mph only. It is made to get out of slippery conditions such as snow... AWD are actually slower than simple RWD.

4WD, like suburu.. all four wheels are equally pushing the car forward.

Do you know what Quattro stands for? Yep 4-wheel-drive.

Audi are THE BEST handling machines on the road.. best..best..best... take away the handling and stiffness...and bleh, and over priced piece of junk.

(but I still love the R8)

I know that this forum is for Honda fans, but what you just said is dumb. People like you make Honda fans look bad. If you take away the handling and the stiffness of your Acura and bleh, it's gonna be a piece of crap as well.

Here you go man, lap times at the Willow springs international raceway:

TL-S 6MT: 1:36.67
G35S 6MT: 1:38.67
IS350 6AT: 1:38.24

source:
That test was conducted by Keiichi Tsuchiya.

And you can view video of just the TL-S here, doing some hot laps at the streets of Willow, again, by Keiichi Tsuchiya (Streets of Willow is not the same as Willow springs raceway, they are at the same place, but with different track layout).

The 5AT 07/08 G35 sedan will typically run 13.8-14.0@101-102mph. From what I've seen on this stie, the TL-S 5AT will do 14.3-14.5@98-99mph. From a stop or roll, the G35 will most likely walk away. From a stop, it probably won't be pretty from your vantage point.

That does seem to be in line with a stock 07 G35X I witnessed posting a 14-flat @ 101mph ET at Etown last year.

Yep, you are right. Auto for Auto the G will walk away.

There is one thing that I guess I really dislike about my TL-S, is that it is not a predictable car. Sometimes you punch it, and it raptures forward...sometimes it just hesitates... I even moved my temp. sensor and I try to hit power band and stay there, but If you ever driven 750li or S550, when you press the gas...and exactly how you press it, the response is immediate...

My previous car, FX45... infiniti knows how to make stupid fast cars. The response was great, but the power band died pretty fast after 3rd...same as acura.

The bmw and audi that I had.. I loved the handling and throttle response, I just hated living at the dealership with all of the electrical problems.

You sound like you are 12 years old just hitting puberty. Congratulations. Move on.

My shop and track experience puts me the mentioned category. While you play with your johnson, I spend my free time in a shop. It's a fun hobby. So when someone suggest something, unless you have backing, keep your mouth closed, and just learn like the rest of us. We all here to contribute. Act your age. Try it.

Get back to the thread. Thank you.

LOL ... got a shop and track experience...fair enough. Let's get back to thread and I'm having a side question. How come I see a lot of threads from HOnda/Acura forums that compare to others while I see very little from the other forums trying to compare their cars to Honda/Acura?

What other forums? German forums compare only amongst themselves...to them anything which is not german is out of their league. When I had a bmw I use to be there.. very few of members actually are gearheads, so the discussions are not really thorough.

Nissan and Honda always have hatred toward each other. When I owned a maxima (my first car), I praised it. I think Nissan has most honda vs nissan racing threads. Honda is lacking big time, especially with Nissan GT-R...that car gives me a hard on.

Acura is only entry level luxury, thus we are not on tip of the tongue of higher class cars.

An American cars? bleh.. they hate everyone that does not drive a muscle car Though.... the SR-T are sexy.

To each it's own.

P.S. I only recently came back to Acura with my 08 TL-S, my first 00 TL was much better built quality.. So this is my last Acura.

I'm not a troll, just love to read about cars. I asked that because I do see that. Instant Nissan/Lexus forums, I barely see them bring up "vs" threads. Anyway, I do agree with you about the American car fans. They hate anything or anyone has cars less than 4.0L or 8 cylinders. What's your next car gonna be if it's not Acura?
