I don't see why you can't win. 25k for Turbo, MT conversion, and RWD conversion plus an extra couple K for tuning and other things. Then TL diet shave off about 400lb at least and get radials. You may spend 25k but youd win a IS-F wishful thinkin ofc
600 whp MT RWD TL would win

^^^ check this link out....its Jeff's RSX....he is pushing down ~650 WHP on a RSX which weighs a lot less than the TL and is a MT and running 11.8+....the ISF hits the quarter mile bone stock at 12.5....if he does minor mods on that car, he will be within the 11's...

^^^ dont know the ISF platform but am pretty sure, headers + exhaust + intake + tune + minor weight loss will take that car into the 11.xx and all this is minor considering some are suggesting the OP to spend 20K+ on his for the race....

Trust me.. there's no modding to be done to the IS-F. Intake is already optimal. Heads flow pretty well already, so spending $10k to get new headers for only a bit of top end hp is not worth it and it will be minimal gains on the track. Exhaust.. negative.. already flows well, maybe very minor top end again. He could shed some quick weight from the trunk, rear seat and maybe passenger seat (net ~200 lbs), but not worth doing anything more. There's also no tune for the IS-F. I don't think anyone even runs a piggyback. The mapping of the table seems to be accommodate n2o as well as exhaust restriction reduction.

650 whp in an RSX and it only goes 11.80's? That's pretty sad actually.

I can buy an e60 M5 and a C63 AMG and still pay less than buying a GT-R. I can afford a GT-R, but I'd rather make my money grow than get into more debt. Although I wouldn't feel too bad if I were in a little more debt.

I don't live my life a quarter mile at a time.
The only reason the C63 is on the list is the brute power and effortless sideway action.
Damn you Aneil!!!

p.s. By the way, thanks for the AWESOME DIY on Timing belt replacement!

as visceral as it may be, paying $26k to replace the engine or $7k for the SMG, which both seem to be made of glass, is a big deterrent... ffffuuuu.. I heard 3rd party contract companies are ceasing to insure the e60 M5 as well because even trying to low ball the repair, it's still fucking expensive (even though they're charging consumers up to 10k for an extended contract).
This is actually one of my favorite vids:

Although the IS-F engine is a mess, I know I can source parts easily and probably do most repairs myself. Or at minimum, know fair and reliable mechanics who can do the work, same with the 63.

The engine is bulletproof. And as far as potential goes it is almost completely immune to knock because of the design of the IM so you can make big power with the 15k intercooled sc kit. But yes you will hear of the SMG horror stories. They do make them in 6speed manual though but all I can say is we've had our 2006 since new and there has never been an issue and BMW service is top notch. One day we went in to get a quart of oil but they were closed but there was a service rep walking by and he went in and just gave us a pretty expensive quart of i think it is 10w60.

MT has it's own issues, plus it was more of an added option to enthusiasts that demanded a MT in an M-car. The SMG was designed to put the power down and it does that well.. while it's working.

I hope you're one of the lucky ones that never has an issue. I don't like that they completely moved from the platform. I like the v10 and smg combo.. if it were extended to the f10, I would feel more comfortable about buying the e60. But since they dropped it, it's only going to get more expensive to support and fix.
