TL-S vs Altima SW-R
Hi, I have an 07 Tl-s, A guy around here would like to purchase my car more than what i paid for and i found an 06 Nissan Altima Se-r for sale $11,000 cheaper than my Tl! Someone can tell me if is comparable to my Tl-s for performance, comfort and pleasure to drive?? I mean for $11,000 i expect to have less than my car but i wonder if it's comparable. Thanks

I try to found an Se-r in my area but it's not a common car the one i found is 7 hours from here, it's a long drive just for a test drive thats why i would like your opinion. I know on Tl forum people may prefer the Tl but maybe some person did try one before and can tell me their impression about the car. Thanks

It's a 6speed man. and the car is for sale in a use car dealer. I did check for other Se-r and they are all around the same price. The Se-r have 84000miles and my Tl-s have 50000miles.

From wiki:
Also new was the SE-R model with a 260 hp and 251 lb-ft of torque version of the V6, upgraded brakes, 18-inch wheels, a suspension even stiffer than that of the 3.5 SE's, and a high-flow exhaust.
Performance wise it will be a bit slower than a TLS, but again it is totally specific to your situation. If you are in need of getting a cheaper car for financial reasons, as long as the car checks out from a mechanic and drives well, go for it.
Otherwise, if keeping your TL isn’t financially burdening, then I would hang on to it. Much better car and has way less miles.

Go check out the Altima forums. I bet those guys aren't nearly as cool as us. That should be the deciding factor.
No really...you're never going to be happy downgrading...$11k or not. Keep the TL.

If you need the money that badly, then I think you'd just sell the TL for a profit and pick up a Corolla or something.
If you don't need the money, then I would stay with the TL. At least you know the car's history.

The reason why i looked to sell my car is i would like to purchase a s2000 next summer and the price the guy here would like to gave me for my car, i can purchase the S2000 and the Se-r with that. But i would like to have a car at least the same amount of power than my car. I know the Se-r have 25hp less than the Tl-s but i think the weight of the car is less and the peak power is at a lower rpm than the Tl so it will be close i think. Ah and also the exhaust note sounds very nice on youtube compare of my car!!

well here is your lucky day i used to have an altima ser...
ok well stock vs stock the ser and tl-s are the same and different in many ways. in terms of power the ser takes it in the low end range but then the tl-s would deff pass it by 60-70 mph.....inteior...they are both nice, the oil preesure, battery volts and mpg gauges in the ser are deff a nice touch and the option to change the headunit is nice. the one i had had red and black leather seats but there is a black and gray option and red stiching it is deff cheaper looking and feeling then the tl-s but still nicer than alot of other cars....and well the look, i guess you have to be the judge of that let me know if you have any more questions.

Wow that se-r look very nice! I like the gauge for oil pressure and battery volt. It look like 350z interior. One point i don't like about my Tl and it appear to be better on the Se-r is the engine sound and exhaust sound. The engine on my car you can hear the engine valve and this is normal but i hate that!! I will continue to think about that, thanks for your help, very appreciate.

Before I bought my TL I was heavily considering 07 08 09 altimas 3.5. I couldn't find one I liked but they very quite loaded and pretty fast. Also I like the overall looks of the altima. My prob with the altima is everyone has one, so I was also considering maxima's as well. I would prob buy a maxima before an altima. I didn't like the CVT tranny but its only on the 4 cylinder altimas. Overall a tough decision for you nissian is a decent car. Id just get an 07 G35........

i think what he means is if you want to compare a TL, it should be to a G35/G37, not an altima.
we dont compare a honda accord to a G37 lol, we compare it to a nissan maxima.
BTW OP, it all depends on what YOU really want. if you like your TL then keep it; if you would prefer 2 cars, one of which is an S2000, then sell your TL and do it.

It all depends on what floats your boat. The Altima will have more room but be less luxurious. I can think of a lot of fun things to do with $11,000. A used Altima SE-R and a used Porsche Boxter sound like a fun alternative to a TL-S.

If I was going to sell my car to get a weekend car, I would get something with some horsies like a vette or a GTO, but thats just me. S2000 wouldnt be terrible but I say no go on the boxster.

Your head is in the right place but I would never recommend a boxster.... poor man's porsche for sure.

I remember test driving the Altima SE-Rs when they first came out. They are very nice and would definitely keep up with the TL-S.
I remember the torque steer was a b*tch because of the low end torque (I test drove the auto and the 6 spd).
The interior fit and finish is not quite as nice as the TL, but it is still a solid vehicle. The tranny will probably last longer than the TL
