Talking TL-s v LSv8 and GS400

TL-s v LSv8 and GS400

I was on my way home from work from work (going down Great Seneca Hwy for those of you who live in md.) and I notice a lexus gs with exhaust...for some reason I knew this guy was going to mess with me. So he starts... we play cat and mouse alittle thru traffic but then I had to turn off and just as I was doing that he pulls up and yells "yo let's go, let go!!" I'm like here we go..and I am feeling good tonight too.... so we find a staight with no traffic and go from a roll of like 10mph by the beginning of 3rd we were even and I was pulling hard on him by the end of 3rd beg of 4th his front at my rear and I was still gaining but had to shut down cuz of traffic...we stopped and talked for a while all he had was i/e and he told he was a gs400 i was like damnnnnnn, thought it was the 300.That was my first kill

The next one (midcounty hwy) was a guy in a ls v8 who just sped past me violently as I was cruising home from work. Coincidently I catch him a light and I just look over to see who was driving like that ...then I notice him pointing ahead as if he were saying "let's go" I'm like here we go again...so I nod my head yes...as we are making the left turn onto this two lane road he immeadietly steps on it and get the jump on me cuz I thought he would want to start at the same time ...cheater...but oh well I hit it as well and he is about a car ahead of me and I am realling him in at the beg. of 3rd we are even and again I am pulling hard on him ...I even get cocky and look at him as I am passing him... beg. of 4th his front bumper is at my rear and I cannot seem to pull any more then v-tech kicks in 4th and I pull about another half car then shut it down...gave eachother a thumbs up and I was smiling from ear to ear all the way home ...2 v8 kills in one night damn I was happy to say the least ...

nice kill on that gs400 those suckers are quick and rwd to boot. the ls400 you definitely should have toasted. good kills though.

Wait, there's the GS300 RWD, GS300 AWD, and the GS430 RWD. If you were racing the 430 that's a crazy kill because those things can dip. 0 to 60 in like 5.6 or something.

there is a gs400 and gs430, both with similiar numbers, gs430 0-60 is closer to 6.0 not quite 5.6, the gs400 0-60 is around 6.3 i believe. still either is a good kill.

btw, I believe he meant the Lincoln LS V8, not Lexus LS. I could be wrong though...

nope you are exactly right ...the lexus was a 2002 or and the lincoln ls v8 was 2000+...man i was shocked that my car could do that

2002 GS 430 has 300 hp and 325 l/f torque. There was no GS 400 produced in 2002. You must've been racing a ghost. Seriously 258 hp TL is no match to 300 hp Lexus.

gs400 ended in 2001, the GS430 is 300HP, TL is 270 HP, SAE net HP for TL is 258HP so SAE net HP for the GS430 would be lower also and TL is much lighter than GS430 which is around 4000lbs, it would be a close race, although stock vs. stock numbers say the GS430 would win.

ok my mistake...one I was not racing a ghost...and seriously if you read my signature and the story thoroughly you would see that he had intake and exhaust and my sig states that I have intake, header , and catback exhaust which if you do the math I am pumping out more than just 258

if it was a GS400, the TLS could stand a chance, but there were no GS400's in '02. So... something is wrong.

Those are slow times for the gs400. go to clublexus.com and you'll find better data. Most gs4's run low to mid 14's.

yeah and those mods give you 100whp right? go put some more stickers on your car and a bodykit than maybe you can beat a GS. it kills me when you honda guys say "I started pulling when vtec kicks in" And you can't even spell vtec right... what did you do, throw your phone at the GS LOL

you said the GS was modded with intake and exhaust. you do know that a v8 will make a hella of a lot more power with simple bolt on right? a lot more than a v6. your story has so many holes it's pathetic dude. you said it was 2002 gs400 and when it should have been a 430. Now you say the guy told you it was a gs400. You would think the owner of the car would know what year his car was built.

I have SC 430 so I am on Clubllexus.com. alot.

From I heard at Lexus forum from GS400 & GS430 owner, they say that GS400 is faster.

They say that it has to do with trottle response where the GS400 uses cable so there is imdediate trottle reponse where GS430 electronic wire so there is a little delay in trottle reponse.

regardless its GS400 or GS430, they are no joke. Torque on those engines are awesom.

I am pretty sure, stock for stock, GS wheather its GS400 or GS430, will win.

hmm. i dont know guys, i have a friend from school who drives a GS400 with exhausts. i got to drive it around too and it does feel kinda heavy. that thing doesnt want to move or something. although i could say i love the torque compared to our TL's. on a straight line my TLP kept pretty strong with it. but i cant say i won or he won.. it was pretty much neck to neck either that or it depended on who took the first jump.

i have a 99TLP with headers, pulley, intake, and exhausts. he has a 98 GS400 with just a catback. hes got the heavy V8 with only exhausts and i have a V6 with most bolt-ons available for our cars, so i guess a TL-S should take it without a problem.

remember, ive done this a several times and i even had a chance to drive it myself.

if what abp02types says is true about him racing the previous gen GS400 than i could definitly believe that he won, especially with a type-s. but if its the more later model 2002+ than there's no way the TL-S will get close to it.

and please, put those magazines and car spec links away. it all depends on the car and driver. if numbers are close, than of course its all about the driver, if numbers are different significantly than yeah, we can call BS right away

in this case, let the guy explain and not jump into conclusions. obviously the guy doesnt know exact year models and what not about lexus'. i didnt know when the model change was either, til i met this guy in school not too long ago.

First off, I don't think the gs 4 weighs that much more than a tl. Curb weight for a gs 4 is about 37xx and a tls curb weight is 35xx. Second the OP said the GS has intake and exhaust. A GS with intake alone can make additional 15-20 rwhp. I highly doubt he won the race, most bs story tellers like the op like using the line "I pulled when vtec kicked in." Face it, vtec WAS very innovative when it first came out, but now every car company has variable valve timing now. You guys make vtec sound like it's forced induction.

as an aside, your arguments are getting very old. anything can happen on the street. in this ONE incident abp02types pulled ~1/2 car on a gs4. maybe abp02types' car was running very strong that night and the gs wasn't or whatever. is it the norm that a TL will pull on a gs? probably not.
