TL-S Spoiler

Finally I am looking to add a spoiler to my car and I cannot find anyone that is selling the type-s for a decent price. I contacted Tim at Hondaacuraworld.com which usually had them for 250 and now they are 550, WTF?

Any help?

Apparently there's no replica of the type s spoiler and in about 1.5 to 2 years the OEM type s spoiler price has been multiplied by 4

haha back when i sold it to you it was an okay deal. I'm talking about today's market value. The OP is saying that the oem type s spoiler price just went up the roof. Looks great on your car. how much did they charge you to paint and install the spoiler?

i'm in the same boat as lavo who originally started this thread. i've had a WTB thread in the black market for over a month now with no luck. i like the base model style decklip lip spoilers, but IMO i'd much rather have the type-s lip b/c it's way more aggressive looking. anyway, can anyone else give me advice on where i can find the type-s lip for a decent price??

I dont know how much the spoiler was cause they painted my whole kit at the same time. The spoiler paint and install was no more than 200 bucks though.

Did you ever mold in your csl?

no i didnt get a chance to mold the csl spoiler. you can see my csl spoiler picture somewhere on the forum. just do a quick search and you'll find it. or i can retake them and post the pictures again. I guess that would be logical since i got the spoiler repainted because the paint didn't match the body paint.

Op, the only thing you can really do is spend the $550 or hope your lucky enough to watch the bm like a hawk and pray that you're the first person to see the thread because I havent seen one last on more than a day in the last 6 months or so.

I've been trying to find one for quite some time and Im not willing to spend the $550, so Im getting a CSL and having it molded. I just cant decide if I wanna do body color (NBP) or CF.

If you're getting the csl spoiler, it might cost somewhere around $500. Esp. if you're going to do body color. Actually, if your cars not type s then its not going to cost much other than just painting the spoiler. I on the other hand had to remove the stock Type s spoiler and repaint the entire trunk along with the spoiler. Molding might cost a bit. I'm kind of curious how body shops would mold a cf on to the trunk. How much would it cost and upon molding the spoiler, would the trunk have to be repainted?

IIRC, the OE Type-S spoiler was originally listed as an "accessory" and was reasonably priced. Lots of people jumped on board and bought them. Acura (apparently) noticed the error, re-catagorized the spoiler as a "part" and raised the price.

There's a thread about it somewhere.

part accessory? any huge diff? spoiler is a spoiler. If acura labeled their product at a certain price, they should stick by it. so exactly how much is the oem type s spoiler? $400 to $500? ridiculous price for a lip spoiler.

Its actually the other way around, it was originally a part reason being that it came installed on the Type S trunk from factory and was not a dealer installed accessory. It was priced around $120 or so WITH all the mounting hardware included where as at the same time the regular lip spoiler, which was offered as an accessory to base model TLs was sold for $300+. Consumers saw the discrepancy and also the fact that the Type S spoiler is better looking than the regular lip spoiler and started buying it instead of the regular lip spoiler.

At this point acura offered the type S spoiler as an accessory rather than a part. When I was looking for it last year it was aroudn $300, almost the same price as the regular lip spoiler but if it has gone up to $500 now then WTF

To anyone who is looking I'd say keep your eyes planted in the private sales section, I was able to get mine for $80 shipped last year.

How are the eBay painted TL spoilers? Do the colors match up with OEM paint, as long as you give them right color code, of course?

Hey i think you'll find this thread helpful:
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/ebay-spoilers-looks-like-oem-acura-tl-lip-spoiler-634487/
Most people seem to think the vendor "thespoilerstore" is a great fit and color is almost a perfect match. If i can't find a type-s spoiler from someone this is the route im going to take.

im not trying to be an ass but please, someone, show me the exact listing because every single one i view (upon actually reading it) is either an OEM or replica of the BASE decklip lip spoiler. do a p/n search and you'll see they're not type-s spoilers. can someone back me up?

Well it says TL-S on the listing, it's not my color so I couldn't give a crap if it's actually TL-S, I am just taking the sellers word for it. Plus it actually looks a little bulkier like the S and its' retail price is 551 (exactly what HondaAcuraWorld quoted me.

^^ oemacuraparts.com has them listed for $471

Here is the link if anyone is interested.

http://oemacuraparts.com/partlocator...layCatalogid=0

this still isnt a bad deal for people with NBPs as the spoiler comes painted. I bought mine used for $80, had to pay body shop $50 for paint. I installed mine myself but the hardware along with the heavier trunk springs was another $40 or so.

To anyone who is looking for a lip spoiler, type S is the way to go, the spoiler is much chunkier than the regular lip spoiler.
