TL-S decklid in conclusion..

After careful review of the TL type S decklid spoiler threads regarding how to safely install them without any lifting, has anyone figured out a way for it to stay on permanently?

The 3M heavy duty molding tape does work but in the long run, it is almost certain to start lifting near the corners. The 2 bolts drilled in seemed to have worked but SteveP66 claims to have lifting as well.

Anyone know a trusty way of installing it? I'm dying to put it on; it's just sitting in my room!

I also got a type s lip spoiler on mine. I install using the bolts only and i took out all the clips, had it on for about a month now and there is a slight lifting on the sides. its not tooo major but it still looks good. And i know its secure using only the bolts too. Hope this helps you out. I'll have a pic up sometime tonight!!

Yeah that's what i'm scared of, the lifting.. I feel like if I were to install it, i'd drill the 2 bolts in, with 3M molding tape to really hold it down on the sides.

did you install it yourself with a template? i'm curious how you got it bolted down.

I use 4 bolts to hold it down , had to modifiy the slot a little (using the outer and the middle slot only)...no lifting and no gapping at all...here is some PICTURE

I had the shop paint and install mine since my car is anthracite, cost me 175.00 paint and install. I dont like drilling holes in my car, so while i am somewhere else i had a body shop install mine. Took them 30 minutes!! The 4 bolt method sounds interesting. I should of did that , Good luck!!

I've had mine on for 3 months or so now with the tape only method. Mine doesn't seem to have done any "additional" lifting on the edges besides what it did after the first couple weeks.

It's on their tight, and has survived 6,000 miles so far.

I don't know about others but I got mine from Tim from Hondacuraworld.com during a group buy.. so it was approx $100. Now he sells them for around $260 I believe. I think that's like the only place you can get it these days--for cheap at least. The dealers charge around 300-400. get out of here !

I used the 3m method. Put on lots of 3m tape and even taped up some of the small spots. I've also cleaned the trunk spot with alcohol before I put it on to ensure a good stick. So far 2 months and no lifting.

The worse thing that can probably happen is that it lifts enough for me to want to pull it off and either redo it or get it bolted on.

Would any of you guys be willing to set up another group buy for the TL-S spoiler? I'd be down if anyone else wants to get one. I'd love to get one anywhere near $100. That would be sweet!

Just bought my car at the end of March and missed out on the amazing deal when the TL-S spoilers were going for $100. Looking to get the lip spoiler anyways, so I'd be down for another GB even though realistically it wouldn't be anywhere near as cheap as before.

Brian - I think all of this extra tape might be the cause of it lifting, as crazy as that may sound. Too much of a good thing maybe?

I'm going to take mine off this weekend (weather permitting) and re install it. Replacing the tape ONLY to the OEM areas.

I also have it applied with the two bolts.........

If this doesn't cure the lifting issues I will drill two more holes and use the OEM clips/plugs that came with it for the ends.

Hm I might use thin 3M tape on the OEM areas like you said, with 4 bolts--2 where they originally should be, and 2 on the far outer sides.

i've installed 2 so far, had absolutely no problems w/ removing the clips & adding plenty of 3m double sided tape(lots). no lifting, etc., at all. this was also done i the very humid, moist weather of new orleans, where even the accesory deck lid spoiler sometimes even lifts.

I installed the deck lid spoiler from ebay with 3M double sided Molding tape. Does anyone know of an easy way to remove the spoiler? Remove and re-install cuz it looks a little crooked. It looks like the molding tape is held on very strong. Any advice on removing the spoiler?

Unfortunately, that price is no longer valid. You can still contact Tim at hondacuraworld to set up the group buy.

I think I will stick with the standard 04-07 spoiler.

We are trying to do a group buy on 04-07 Deck lip and few other things here from hondacuraworld:
