Tl-s

I'm new to this club. I have had my TL for 3 mouths now and love the car. I just came back from Boston on a trip and got into a race with a TL-S. What are the differences in power?

That's why I don't understand why we would want to race against one of our own? It's lke beating up on your own lil brother at home ... what's the point?

The extra cash spent on the TL-S is well worth the money. I had an TL-P as a loaner for 1 week, and I could feel and see the difference. I didn't like it.

^^
Plus:
- ANC
- Improved Flow Exhaust
- Metal "race" pedals
- More aggressive skirts/lips

The TL-S is the best stock TL you can buy. The Base TL, stock, is merely adequate in comparision.

I wasn't looking to race. we were just having a little fun. I'm sure the TL-S is faster and nicer then my TL. A friend of mine works at an Acura dealer and called me when he got it in on trade. It's black on black with carbon fiber Int. an the Navi system. outside of the TL-S it has every option in it. but what really sold me on it was the 6 speed.

Oh believe me..i did. I test drove one and like I said in my previous post.. I chose the TL-P w/ Nav..the waffle rims are horrible, and Quad exhaust??? u gotta have more than 300 to be boastin that on a 4 door FWD car. the only thing i do really like is the Brembos.. but hey..to each their own..got nothin but love for u fellas...just did not experience that much of a difference...

To add to your list - Manual transmission (6MT) only availible with the Type S model.

300 hp in a fwd, the front wheels will rip out of he wheel well and fly out when you floor the car. I'm not kidding.

Right. Since the TL Type S was released in 2007, if you want manual transmission with your NEW TL, your only choice was/is to purchase a Type S.

www.acura.com

We were comparing the extra features and the "worthiness" of the extra cost of the Type S from the non Type S.

guess ill add my $.02....i think the 6MT TL will at least keep up with an auto TL-S. i havent tried it but if i see an eager/ambitious TL-S, ill give him/her a try....my 05 NAV/6MT TL has damn near everything the TL-S has except the 3.5 motor, slightly stiffer suspension, XM nav traffic, MP3 capability and KBP!....sorry but those exceptions, i can live with. especially if i can walk down a TL-S....LOL

Coming from someone who owns both a TL-P and a TL-S....it was worth the buyin the TL-S...alot of people ask me at work...why did i buy another TL...Its not just "another TL, its a TL-S"...i fell in love with my first TL...and when the Type S dropped...i had to get it....the seats are better...leather feels better, handling...power band, new gauges, better navi....it doesn't take 3 days for the OK button to appear like on the older gen. and a 3.5...kinda upset that acura has a 3.7 out in the mdx and didn't use it...considering thats puttin out 300hp...

who ever said you needed 300hp to rock quad tips?? its hard enough keeping 286hp on the ground forget about 300 to 2 front wheels...honestly...the exhaust is what brought me to buying the Type S...

For a luxury/sports car for under 40k...its a hell of a deal...and it packs alot of punch...i wouldn't trade this TL in for anything ( now that my 3rd gear issue is gone)

^^ definitely....its also not hard to get it to 300hp; just add the ATLP and intake (which seems like nothing nowadays) and boom you've got around 14-15 additional hp (11hp from exhaust and like 3-4hp from intake). It costs what another $1200.00. Thats nothing for a good amount of increase in hp.

you too...when i was in the market for buying a new car (after my baby, my IS300 got totalled), I loved the TL but when the salesperson showed me the TLS, all I saw were the quads and that was it! I told him I want this one and here we are a year later.

It sounds like someone is trying to justify why he/she bought a TL-P instead o f a TL-S, but in reality I sense that all this talk is nothing but regret and jealousy. I know I am at least 50% right making it either regret or jealousy. Maybe it's both...

CAR and Driver "OCTOBER"- Worlds slowest TL-S!!- this is why i skipped on that PIECE-

In Oct Car and Driver, they did a $35k group test. This time, sedans with automatics. Of course, the 330i won. The TL-S placed 3rd (behind the Audi by 1 pt and ahead of the G35 by 3 pts). However, the acceleration times for the TL-S were slowest of the group. 0-60 in 7.6 and the 1/4 in 16.0@88 mph. Considering their last TL-S did 0-60 in 6.3 and the 1/4 in 14.8@96 (which they mention elsewhere in the issue during a test of the 6-spd Maxima), I thought they might have some concerns. They were testing in Ohio, so it couldn't have been elevation. By comparison, the G35 did the 1/4 in 15.6@92 mph. No way does the G35 trap 4 mph faster than the TL-S.

Oh, and they also tested the new Accord EX-V6. 0-60 in 7.0, 1/4 in 15.5@92 mph. Not as good as MT's test, but faster than what C&D got for the Altima auto. Should have made them wonder about the TL-S too. TL-S weighs 100 lbs more and has 20 extra hp, yet runs a half second and 4 mph slower?

mighty weak for a car with massive quads. But you guys keep enjoyin your rides...just pick your races wisely!!

0-60 in 7.6? what? qt in 16? what? My 00TL was getting upper 14s

That's pure BS! In those "tests", car manufacturers that pay up get better numbers and win, same crap as CNET rating.

And in regards to the quads, those are just damn tips, same bs as the maxima.

I love my TLS!
