TL owner, again
Well the wait is over lads, I finally picked up my new daily driver, a 3G TL . I have owned an 00 TL in the past along with an 02 TL-S, which I recently sold with 160k on the odometer. I had been shopping around and looking at different cars for the past 3 months such as Subaru LGT, Acura RL, Acura TL, Lexus GS350 AWD but after looking around and realizing that this car is going to do nothing but rack up miles I decided to go with a used 3G TL . I'll have pictures tomorrow after a wash and wax session, btw its an 06 RRP.
first mod? Picking up a set of 18" A-Spec wheels tomorrow

I am still thinking as to what to do to my headlights here are the few things that will indeed be done.
-- 08 Base model headlights since they take 7443 bulbs rather than 1157s.
-- Colormatch RRP
-- ZKW lens swap
-- Switching over to DOT Step projectors rather than slope
-- Incorporating LEDs into the headlights and I dont just mean the turn signal
-- Replacing fog light/DLR opening with a pair of AP1 S2k projectors.
-- Tossing out the crappy Osram OEM D2S bulbs for two fresh pairs of Phillips 85122+ D2S bulbs.
Yeah thats about it .

GRATS!
GRATS!
Oh please lol, I do the headlight thingee as a hobby, money that I get from doing one set barely pays for a complete fill up of the QX

Its a 2006 TL, auto due to the fact that I drive a lot, with navi, RRP with tan leather. I picked up the A spec wheels this afternoon and I must say that I lucked out on them because they are absolutely mint and I got a sweet deal not to mention that I saved on shipping. A spec kit was ordered this morning along with the deck lid spoiler. I read somewhere that the Type S deck lid spoiler is a bit different and better looking but it isnt offered in RRP so I had to settle for the regular deck lid spoiler. Kit cost me 1050 shipped, shipping alone was $120.
Performance mods will be very minimal since this will be my daily driver, I have grown out of the boy racer age or you can say that I got spoiled by the lexus .
A few mods that I might do soon
-- CAI
-- Comptech headers
-- Comptech exhaust, even though I love the Greddy but I think I want something a bit mellower.
-- Hi flow cat.
-- Headlights of course, still trying to figure out how I want to approach them, I am not going to go the CCFL route but will indeed do something LED based. I havent had a chance to see what sort of clearance I have in the back of the headlight since the S2k WILL stick out from the back a lot, I might go with something smaller of may be even a set of Lexus IS 300 fog light projectors in the DRL opening. The TL uses 9006 bulbs for its fogs so that would be perfect since the IS300 fog projectors take 9006 bulbs as well.
Thats all I can think of for now, I still cant believe I jumped ship so quickly and bought the wheels and A spec kit

I know, in fact I was looking for the car when I came across the wheels and after doing some research I realized that the deal was too good to pass on

I am not planning on dropping the car, roads are fine since I live in the suburbs and not the city itself although I do head to NYC, Boston and Baltimore all the time. I may use the hiros for a few months or I might sell them we'll see but first the car needs tints , what do you guys think? 20%? I was thinking 20 in the back and 35 in the front as I use to have on my TL-S.
Its dark outside and I drove the TL with the lights on, I have to give it to you guys for being able to drive with stock TL projectors and the shitty Osram bulbs I'll post before and after shots when I a doing my headlights to show what everybody is missing

So it wasnt yours....
On the way home yesterday I spotted a RRP whipping North on Rte 3. I was like "Ha, is this JnC in his new machine?".... I pull up next to the whip and it was a "cougar" pushing the TL. I beeped to show the ACURA love and KIM'd it. (Kept It Moving).
HIRO's or A-SPECs.. hard choice as I love both wheels, but I honestly the RRP would really be fire on the HIRO's. The "specs" would be prime for your road trips, Hiro's otherwise!
As far as your light conversion goes, please do keep me posted!!!
BTW are you going to the Fuddruckers Meet on the 14th?

^^ Naa man, the car isnt even registered yet because I have been too busy with work .
I will toss on the Hiros this summer, the A specs were an impulse buy just like the kit lol so we'll see how that works.
I am having tints and moleskin work done soon . If my kit, wheels, tints, TL-S tails and side markers make it here before the meet then sure I'll show up .

ok just did some adjustments to my order, since I was getting everything shipped I said might as well save on shipping by getting everything shipped at once. ordered the type S taills $180.00 and the markers $84 which isn't bad compared to the hondaworld group buy.
Also as some of you know that the type S deck lid spoiler is a bit beefier and better looking than the regular deck lid spoiler so I ordered the type S one instead. The price is the same, only back draw is that it doesn't come in royal ruby red pearl so i'd have to get it painted which is no biggie. Also since the type s one is a body piece rather than an accessory it doesn't come with the hardwear or instructions but I think the extra pain getting it painted and buying the $20 worth of hardware is worth it, thoughts?
