Tl Mpg

What kind of gas mileage are you guys getting?

I average about 26~27, pending on how congested traffic is in the city and how much highway driving. I'd say on the highway I could probably net a 31~32mpg average (cruising at 65~75mph).

I must say this car gets really good mpg, I would get 21 on my MDX and I thought that was good.

26-27 in real city driving is impossible......................

If I try to be a puss and conserve gas I still only get 20mpg in city driving. Unless city driving for you consists of no stop & go traffic

I just got mine less than 2 weeks ago. I reset the trip computer so i could get an idea of what my MPG would be and it started high, around 27 MPG. That was because my first trip was to Atlantic City down the AC Expessway. That number quickly dropped once I started my work commute (through Philadelphia). The trip has a little over 500 miles on it. During that distance my average MPG is 20. Not as good as i was hoping when i bought it. My high reving Prelude SH got better MPG.

I get 22mph in 90% city 10% highway driving. No way are you getting 26mph in "city" driving unless you drive like a grandma (take 45 seconds to accelerate up to 30mph - at least 10mph below the posted speed limit) or it isn't really city driving (bumper-to-bumper the whole way, stopping for red lights every minute or more)

Maybe some drivers leave in low gear and not realizing your car is at 4~ 5k rpm because it's so smooth and quiet. That's gonna eat up your gas more.

Accelerate gently and keep the gear at 5th gear at the speed of 45 mph. The rpm will be at around 1800 rpm. of course... this applies to MT, not automatic.. I think the automatic cars take up a little more gas no?

If I am on a freeway only trip at a constant 75mph I will average 32.4MPG. Once I get on the surface streets with stop and go traffic that number plummets to an average of about 20-21 MPG

I would tend to agree with pohljm more so than that other guy. Although 32.4 MPG is quite high as well. I have yet to take the car on a significant highway drive immediately after resting the trip computer but 27 MPG was the highest I've seen mine.

I get about an average of about 17 I believe. All city driving, keeping my RPM at 3-3500k max. I get less than 300 per tank. Sucks, I end up filling up every week and I don't even drive much.

I do this all the time in my AT. At 45 I put the transmission in manual mode and force it into 5th. Otherwise it won't shift until around 50. The problem is that 45mph on my surface streets only lasts for 15-30 seconds at a time before slow traffic, stop sign, or traffic light.

Autos lose a little bit of efficiency in the torque converter but not that much. I believe EPA estimate for auto is 20 city 29 highway, just 1 less than the 6mt.

I used to get a solid 29mpg on the same route prior to adding the UR crank pulley and Sun hypervoltage and grounding kit, now same route average 32.4 MPG unfortunately since i did the 3 mods at the same time I am not sure which one caused the mileage increase. From other posters with the UR crank pulley they have not reported any significant MPG increases so I assume it is the hypervoltage and grounding mod. I was originally pessimistic before installing this mod, since intuitively it did not seem like Acura would not have done something similar if it was beneficial. but if it is indeed responsible for the MPG increase it obviously has merit. This is nearly a 12% increase in my MPG which is significant.

I was averaging 24-25mpg city and 29-30mpg hwy in my TSX. Now I'm averaging only 21mpg in the TL. Not a fan.

I am running at between 21-23 mpg mixed on my '04. I lost probaby 1 or 2 mpg after upgrading to 18" tires but pickup 1 after installing the K&N air filter. With drinking premium, I wish I can get 26-27 but hey, it is a performance sedan!

I said I average 25~26mpg, which includes driving on both the highway and in the city. Don't get the misconception that I get 25~26mpg in the city alone, I would either need to strip the car to get those numbers or drive a four cylinder.

I accelerate very conservatively and slowly creep up to the same speed as traffic, keep in mind though my city driving isn't a NYC it has much less congestion and you can actually drive a 1/2 mile without seeing a stop light.

I could only see that going down a huge hill and letting the car coast, maybe you are getting 39mpg, but I'd go to the dealer and ask.

06 with 9600 miles:
-80% Hwy/ 20% City- trip computer indicates 26 mpg (highway at 65 mph w/ cruise control on)
-when I calculate after fillup ~ 26 mpg, a little worse in winter (24.5-25)
-I have done 29 mpg with long highway cruise (400 miles on 1 tank and 13 gallons to fill it)

Aslong as you don't do a lot of slowing down and speeding up on the highway you'll be getting good numbers. I just hate when slow drivers stay on the left lane.

funny deal . . . when i first got my car (used 04 TL) it seemed like the full tank that the dealer gave me yielded some miles out of that . . . . but ever since i started putting gas it seems like i only get 20-21mpg and my gas goes down hella fast even if i just cruise.

I'm happy...

I get 24mpg consistently for around metro Richmond.

I got 36mpg going 63mph from RIC to Charlotte, NC in about a 4 1/2hr trip. I was real happy with that!!

I have a '04 with 63K miles and I average around 22-23 mpg with both city and hwy driving.
I wish I had more highway....I'd probably get around 30 mpg highway. On a trip back from the Poconos mountains I got 33-34 while cruising at 70-75 mph.

2006 TL 6MT – 2500 miles so far – I average about 19 in the city and about 23-24 doing 50-50 city/highway. I took only one relatively short trip so far (150 miles one way), and averaged 31-32mpg driving at 75mph (each way)
