My dad had his 05 tl's windshield fixed due to a chip in it. The guy told me the tl has an insulated windshield, there are tiny air pockets in it which in turn gives the car a quiet ride. He filled the chip, it came out pretty good, but he said it would have looked better if it didnt have this windshield, but to me it looks good.
I just thought it would be interesting to post my findings about the windshield, Ive never heard of that before.

 

Yep. The TL has an acoustic damper layer. That is one reason the replacement for this windshield is still in the $650 price range.

My windshield was cracked too from a rock on the freeway and in the process of repairing it, the window guy said the glass is really brittle. He said that he usually only sees glass this brittle on cheap aftermarket Chinese glass.
