The TL Diet -Vs- 2010 Camaro SS
This was a super clean race (aka, a valid run).
My opponent was a 2010 (maybe 2011) Chevrolet Camaro SS. We know that it is a SS because only the SS has the air scoop (see pic below). Plus, I can clearly see the SS emblem in the video close-ups.
And, we know that it has a 6.2L V8 engine because the SS only comes with this engine as standard equipment and has no other engine option. This engine produces 426-hp with 6MT -or- 400-hp with the automatic. I do very much think that my opponent was an automatic because I did not see any hiccups in his acceleration to indicate manual gear changes. Also, while sitting at the light, his car suddenly rolled forward for a split second just like when a person unconscientiously takes their foot off of the brake pedal for a split second in an automatic.
The auto does the quarter mile between 13.1 or 13.4 seconds, depending on information source, and approx 109 mph in the quarter. Many sources state that the 0-60 mph for the automatic is 4.6 seconds (one of it's signature selling points).
On purpose, I let him get the jump on me because I wanted the video to clearly show that he was trying. Normally, I would not allow my competitor to have such an advantage. In the vid, a split second right before I wot, you can see him jumping forward to initiate the race. Before that, I was trying to just pace him. I estimate the race occurred from approx 20 mph to approx 90 mph. In the vid, the speedometer shows 80 mph. But, this was after I had given the brakes a healthy jab to clearly indicate to my opponent that the race was being terminated. By the way, I always drive with two feet (one foot on each pedal) so I do have very quick transition to braking.
This was in a 50 mph zone for your reference. The road surface was concrete and provided excellent traction.
I was *not* using SportShift mode at any point in the video. The cool downshifts heard in the video were all executed by the computer in response to my hard braking.
And yes, that is a rattle from the exhaust system from not having any rubber isolators.
My opponent was a super cool guy. He respected me enough to feel that I was worthy of racing because he actually initiated the race in the first place... I just arranged the race situation for us. Most muscle car guys would be pissed by getting beat by a "ricer". Not this guy. After the race, he respected me enough to roll down his window to give me a thumbs-up. Well, he actually gave me a "A Ok" sign.

Nice kill Inacc! Bet he didn't see that coming.
But damn, that guy in the Courtesy Chevy video. He may well be the biggest tool to ever roam the earth. Women must steer a seriously wide berth around him in the bars.

Quarter mile times are almost not valid in real racing. I vs'ed an EVO that did 12.8 in the quarter mile and when racing 20- 40 mph rolls, I almost will be leading a head up with a 13.3 quarter mile time. But.....
It would of been nice to have shown some supporting mods on the video...
The race was great, but it would of been nice to see him go round 2.
Have you been out to see how fast you are at the 1/4 mile time with that beast?

Nice race. The manual I had when shifted properly does 12.9 qtr mile. I have raced a few cars. When a Modded 08 335i coupe raced me, he stuck with me until 60mph. Thats when I walked away like he was standing still. TORQUE BABY. I had a few mods and probably ran about 4.4 0-60.

I don't agree with a lot of the TL diet, but this is cold, hard evidence that it works... and sounds like a beast while doing it. Did [I]not[I] expect that sound to come out of it. Good run.
EDIT: I noticed it seemed to hold 1st gear for quite a while before shifting... can you shed any light on that?

Innac....
haven't been around in a while, so Idk but is your exhaust open somewhere? thats a very harsh idle (harsh as in loud=I hear motor, not exhaust). It sounds like mine did with the open cutout right underneath me...i know all that's left of your car is just a bit more than the shell alone, so there's not much sound proofing, but goddamn thats loud! lol...
Nice pull btw....I can hear the weight difference just through the shifts...very impressive indeed!
I don't know why your CEL was on, but simply being on can change how the car runs, even slightly...what i mean to say is...as impressive as that run was, it would've been even better without the CEL!!! lol

I watched this at work today but didn't have any audio. So I get home, log on, and load it up.
Due to the noisy exhaust (lol) my wife comes into the office, caught the 3 car lengths part, and goes "Holy shit that TL just pwned that that black car"
I said "Hah. Yea and that's a 400+ HP new Camaro."
Then the best part, she goes "So no door panels, loud ricey exhaust, and it just took a Camaro.... that must be that 'diet' TL you talk about".
!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even my wifes a fan.

That is tight bud, I'm always fearful of these new muscle cars. I haven't raced anyone yet with the TL. I'm stopping by Walmart tonight and getting that 2lb pump and removing my spare tire.
PS, I sent you a PM also...

Thank you. I have been meaning to address this in my Diet thread but I have been unable to find a calm and polite way to say it. Just like with the UCM, people want the benefits but are unwilling to do what it takes. Instead we have a bastardized version that gives the effectiveness of the full fledged UCM a black-eye.
I *TOTALLY* agree with Champ's statement !!!!
False. Especially for the 5AT car. The excessive turbo lag of the 5AT has yet to be resolved. And in a race like you see in this video, you better have power that comes in quick. Your competition is not going to be waiting around for you until you get past your turbo lag. And then when the boost did build, there would be nothing but wheel spin.
Wheel spin = in a drag race.
The TL Diet has Inherently superior traction.
But, the turbo is superior to the Diet for high speed runs. The Diet struggles in high speed runs.

Innacurate, I remember you saying you weighed like 150 lbs. I just had a crazy idea of you making your car radio controlled and standing on the side of the road operating it. It's bad enough this guy will be telling his friends about the grocery getter that walked him. They'd really send him off to the psych center if he told them he got whipped by an automatic TL with no F/I sounds and no driver.
