Is the TL designed to be bashed?

Had my TL since July, love the thing. Occassionally, and I really do mean occassionally, I will take turns a little quick and mash the gas. Occassionaly when mashing the gas I hear a little pop, not exactly a backfire, but a little pop, definitely from the exhaust, not sure what the hell it is.

I have always heard that higher end cars are meant to be bashed and that is how they are manufactured. Obviously if one were to do this all the time I would assume that the vehicle's overall life would be less compared to someone who "babied" their vehicle. One of the reasons I purchased the TL was for performance and occasionally I like to try to max out that performance, just hope I am not screwing up the car down the road.

Popular pop sound...it happens. Mine does it occasionally during a WOT run when mashing it.

isnt that unburned fuel in the exhaust system, usually when you down shift quickly from a high rev?

personally I haven't heard the "pop", maybe I'm babying it too much or have the stereo too loud...

This is my understanding as well. Especially common if you trick the fuel injection by mashing then quickly releasing the accelerator.
