TL depreciation: Very, Very Good

Overall, this car will retain it's value better than most cars out there. I know a lot of TL owners are "value" driven, so consider this pretty sweet...
(not to forget lower maintaince costs that the german cars)

The sedan does even better:

Not that I put a lot of value into these estimates.

Jrock, we should do a comparison of these cars 5-10 years back (if possible) and really see what they are worth today... That would be interesting. I think that most japanese imports have the best depreciation for lower to mid priced cars.
(I remember the car salesman at the dealer was telling me about that as well, when he tried to sell me a used TL. Then I tried to sell him my used Honda, and of couse he told me that car doesnt hold its value...so it's really all in the eyes of the beholder!)

After driving my 2000tl for over four years I still got very close to $14k for it. That's less than $300 a month since I paid just under $28k. Really doesn't make much financial sense to lease one.

Actually, the 2nd gen TL's have had a worse depreciation hit than expected because of all the internet hype of the transmission issue.
However, the 3rd gen seems to be holding its value REMARKABLY well. I'm seeing 04 TLs with over 10,000 miles with asking prices near what you could haggle with on a new one at a dealer!!!
However, if a tranny problem breaks out on the 3rd gen....get ready for a reversal of this trend. Fingers are crossed.
