TL Clear Coat
TL Clear Coat
Does the TL use some kind of new and/or better clear coat process than other car manufacturers?
I was just checking out my paint job. Granted my car is only 16 months old but I don't recall a car that didn't have at least some of those small "scratches" from general wear and tear.

Amazing ain't it? I totally agree, my old car, did not look great after 1 year,
a bunch of nicks and swirls.
My TL is the same age and the paint is in awesome condition. That clearcoat
looks like it was just applied. My car is garage kept and I use many coats
of Klasse, but it still looks impressively good. I do have 1-2 small stone nicks
on the nose, but that's it.
I think the jap manufacturers just have figured out paint quality more than
others. I am sure others would agree.

Yup! Mine looks like new.
I agree the clear coat is shiny, but the metallic color coat quality is far behind German paint in initial appearance. I have had good luck with Honda paint durability on past cars, waxed once or twice a year with quality paste waxes. Hopefully the TL will follow this experience. I tried Maguires Tech Wax paste this weekend and the car looks great. The application and removal of the wax was easly compared to my usual carnuba paste. I will see how well the Maguires holds up in the next few months. Maguires Tech Wax got a good review in Motorcyclist Magazine (not prone to BS), so I thought I would give it a try.
