Hey All,
Found out the wife and I are having a little one and started looking at comfortable, safe sedans, and decided upon the TL. Most likely going to pick up an 07/08 Type S in the coming months.

Any Moms and Dads using the TL to chauffeur the little ones around? How well do carseats fit? Think it will be a good Daddy-Mobile?

Car seats fit perfectly. I don't have kids, but had to take care of my 3 year old cousin for a few months. And it is the safest car on the road. :P

Awesome! Just more reason to get one! The funny thing was, the wife was the one that suggested the TL, though I added the idea of the Type S....Gotta keep fatherhood interesting :-P

I have a friend that has 2 car seats in the back. It seems pretty small though.

Congrats on the news. I would agree with TheChamp. The car is safe and I would think a car seat would fit well in the back seat. So not only will you get a safe car, but you will get a car that you will enjoy driving.

Congrats. The best thing to do is to see if your local babies r us will let you test fit their displays. Most of them will. I have different seats between my TL and my wife's blazer. Her seats do not fit well in mine and my seats do not sit well in hers. Make sure you get a good quality car seat pad to protect your leather from being destroyed...Also some convertable car seats create a ginormous blind spot. I had two narrow base Eddie Baeur infant carriers and now I have two of these now. I do have a 3 months old and the car seat fit perfectly. I bought the TL because I am sick and tired of climbing into the back seat of my Accord coupe. Here is the pic

I have two forward facing seats in the backseat now; a Britax Marathon and a Britax Frontier 85 SICT. No issues with space at all. Let me know if you would like me to take a pic.

Rearward facing seat is best in the center position using the latch system. This way you don't need to move both seats up. Forward facing seats are easy in both left & right spots using the latch system. The upper latch mounts behind the headrests are difficult to use though because they are too close to the seat. Once you get the hook onto the D ring, it's really difficult to pull the adjuster strap tight because it's so close to back of the car seat. I find you have to make that strap the correct length before hooking it on, and then make sure that is the first one you hook. This will get the seat in the firmest position.

BTW: For some absolutely retarded reason, they don't make the bottoms and backs of car seats shaped like adult butts & backs. Therefor the seats are prone to marring up the seat back leather. Especially if there is any type of shoulder-belt adjustment knob on the car seat. It's best to fold a towel and stick it behind the seat back to protect the seat. Also those car-seat protector things help quite a bit and provide the seat some traction on the slippery leather.

heres my recaro pro ride rear facing. it looks like it blocks my rear view mirror but it doesnt. fits nice and perfect. yes car is a mess in the backseat but hey kids do that lol. i have a mat under the carseat so that helps protect the leather.

^Your not supposed to use the seatbelt AND LATCH at the same time. This puts more energy into your child in a collision. One or the other.

its just seat belt, id pefer the latches but rear facing the latch wont reach. i just never tucked the latches away lol

Just make sure you put a towel under each seat so that it doesn't dig in to your leather as badly and leave marks.

i have 2 car seats in the back of my TL, one forward facing and one rear facing. Both fit with no issues. I put a folded up blanket under each to protect the rear seats.

i previously had a RSX-S with our first kid and it was a PITA with that, so got the TL with more room.

For my cars at the time, I used a carpet sample which worked better than towels for protecting seat- place carpet down against leather with backing against the car seat. I waited until youngest child was done with carseats before buying my TL.

Had a car seat in mine for many years. Worked great. Took it out and had deep imprints in the seat bottom (even using a towel). No biggie though as they do eventually work themselves out, just like chair imprints on carpet.

On the Recaro's and most other car seats the latch system has to be moved to the front of the seat for rear facing and to the rear of the seat for forward facing I'll go take some pictures now. Be right back

Is this the TL Carseat thread?! i'm going to take a pic soon with mine!!! I drive a 4 yr old around and the car seat fits great. I just hate the fact he kicks and leaves dirt on the back of my seat no matter how many times i yell at him

This is one from my wife's car. It happens to be the rear facing for my 1 year old. It is ridiculously large and creates a huge blind spot. It is also too wide at the base to fit between the seat bolsters.

Great pics, Toddy! thanks for the input everyone! I like the idea of a carpet sample, but have you guys found anything fairly inexpensive that is made to minimize wear on the leather and holds up pretty well? If nothing else, I suppose I'll just throw a towel down and call it a day

i use fleece blankets that are folded up and they do a good job at protecting the seats

My god sons car seat ( rear facing ) fits great but if put behind the drives seat I have to move my seat forward.

I'm tall though so maybe I'm the only one with that problem

Just make sure you put a towel or blanket down, like in most of these pictures, since car seats tend to dig into the leather. Also, even if the car seat is a semi-permanant fixture in the car, you might want to consider rotating it to the other seat and/or removing it when not in use so the indentations don't become permanant as well

When I have the carseat in mine..I have a vinyl deal that goes under the seat as well as a piece that goes on the upper portion for the backrest portion. Ill snap some more pictures when we swap the seat into my car..its a graco nautilus which is pretty large on its own but doesnt cause me any issues.

The best part which isn't shown...they are not joined so you can adjust them for whatever vehicle they are in at the time. I have seen these pop up in Ross/Marshalls if you have them in your area for $12 or so...just a heads up and glad I could help.

i have an eddie baurer one from target that i use for mine. best part i love about it is that its so easy to clean. ill have to keep the one posted above in mind since the one i have now is only a bottom part. Since im still rear facing i can get by for now.

I used this product for two years. This product has a textured bottom that left imprints in my backseat. Eventually the imprints went away, but it took a while. Just a heads up.

Also, if you are tall, you'll have a hard time getting a rear facing car seat behind the driver seat and still being able to position your seat comfortably, so you'll probably want to put it behind the passenger seat and let your tall passengers suffer instead.

I have one if those too. Works great. My son is in a boost now but there is a ton of space fir him. You'll be fine.

Also, I have not noticed any impressions on my seat from using this. I've used it in my TL, Pathfinder and Infiniti. The bottom is a slop resistant surface. Doesn't work great for preventing it from slipping, but it does really protect the seats.

mine doesnt leave marks...it is a little slick but when the seat is secured I have no issues.

Thread resurrection! I have 19 month old twin girls. I'm in need of putting 2 car seats into my TL. Do you have those photos of the two seats in your car? Also did you do them rear facing at all? Or did you go straight to front facing?

Thanks for any input from anyone. As the Pilot is all set up, but I need to set the TL up for those days when the wife is out and I'm home w/the kids. She's not going to be driving my car as she's already curbed the rims

I have a towel behind the front facing and a sheet covering the whole bottom of the seat. The car only gets torn up from my daughter. I'm 6'1" and the seat is in the perfect spot for her to kick the hell out of it. It's the girls you have to worry about, they're evil.
