TL buying question...

Hello all, my 02 TL just got totaled and now I'm getting money from the lady's insurance company. I'm looking at a 2005 TL with 110k miles on it. Anything I should be aware of/looking for? Any insight would be helpful, I want to make sure that I don't get screwed.

I would make sure that 105 service was performed. That can run you a good amount of money.

^this, and just make sure the recalls have been done you will be surprised how many owners were informed of a known recall and are asked to get sent in for repair, but they don't.(you can call your local acura dealer for more info. on that)

Also I would choose a navi equipped on only because it flows well and will help with resale value a bit.
Few 05s had trannies go out, so I would try to get the car inspect at an indie shop or pay the $110 at your acura dealer. Trust me its worth it.

for an 05 with 110k miles I say $13k tops.

Take a good look at the dash and see if there are any cracks.

Try and see if there are any service records and look to see when and how many times the tranny was serviced.

Look at the leather seats. They dont hold up well.

Drive it and see how the tranny shifts. See if there is any driveline vibration.

Check the wheels for any bends/cracks.

There is more. Look in the problems and fixes subforum and see what owners are dealing with. That will give you ideas as well.

GL with the new buy. Check this thread out and read through it, wallaceoh made a really good checklist on things to look for. Also like ggesq said look through the problems and fixes sub forum. Best way to know what to look for is know what common problems are going on.

^+1 on everything everyone said above. I would really suggest getting it checked out by Acura. Pay the $110 and have the peace of mind or at the very least have room for negotiation with any issues Acura brings up.

should be able to get them down, make sure that 105K is done, I totaled a 04 TL in September and just purchased a WDP 06 TL AT with 68K on it for 13,300 in immaculate condition.....
