Tl 6spd vs eclipse turbo :)
raced my friends eclipse turbo...the front wheel drive, not the GSX. he had a nice intercooler, boost controller, exhaust, and intake. from start i take him right off the launch and by 3rd gear im at least a car ahead. from 10mph roll almost the same thing and i keep pulling ahead nicely he actually did a better job keeping up them most other lil ricer cars.
now he is my question???? i launched once with traction control on at a low rpm and gained speed pretty quickly without it interfering too much. so then i turned it off and obviously took off quicker but with more wheel spin. if you launch at a lower rpm with traction on will it you have a pretty fast launch? because your not gonna get greedy with the throttle and just spin your tires cuz you know that traction is gonna kick in
sorry for making it confusing but im curious if keeping traction control on will make a difference in launching?
thanks fellas!

You should always leave the traction control off for the best launch. If you are not spinning your wheels somewhat then you are not doing it right. Of course too much wheelspin is bad, but a little is necessary. Also if you launch at a low rpm then you are basically bogging down the engine.
I'm not 100% sure but I think it's best if you rev it to 2500rpm, then engage and modulate the clutch to keep the engine at roughly that rpm for the first second or so, while making just a little bit of wheelspin. By now you should start fully engaging the clutch and prepare to go WOT depending on traction. It's hard to describe in words but I guess it takes practice? I just kinda know how to do it, but have never done it lol!

For street tires and with the TL's power level, you want the tires on the verge of spinning, even screeching, but not blowing them away. On a higher powered car, once the tires break free, you're not going anywhere until you back waaaay off the gas.
Good job with the Eclipse. My TL would take my friend's until he turned the boost up. Now with it stock except for slightly higher boost it leaves me.
