Tire Problem and Vibration Issue Update

I know many of you must be wondering where things stand with my report that Acura is getting ready to deal with this tire problem. Well, my car will be at the dealer this Thursday to undergo some tests, and then I will meet with the Service Manager to find out what their findings are. Acura is probably trying to ensure that there isn't more to this than just the flat spotting and vibration of the Turanzas. I'll let you know what happens as soon as I get the car back on Thursday.

I have every reason to expect the EL42s to be replaced (probably not on Thursday, and not with Michelins!), but I'm glad that they want to do thorough testing before simply putting four new tires on the car and hoping for the best.

On a side note, I had my scratched window tint removed and redone with the suggested felt strip applied to the inside of my windows. Now if the squeaking of the wet window rubbing against the felt would just stop, I'd have that problem licked.

Thanks for keeping us updated. Sorry if it's already been mentioned, but what is your relationship with Acura?

Three things: I have been buying their cars for the last ten years (seven Acuras so far) so I believe they consider me a loyal customer, I have developed what I consider to be important and valuable relationships with a few members of the staff at my dealer of choice (Keyes Acura - Van Nuys, CA), and just by chance I have met a couple of people who work at Acura Corporate. One of them is a high level executive who happens to be a family friend.

My wife and I spend a lot of our money on their products. In large part because we trust them to stand behind what they sell. So far, they have always done just that. I wish other things in life were as fair and ethical.

Thanks for keeping us informed about this important issue, acuraddict. I hope the EL42s are replaced as well, but it certainly makes sense for Acura to seek alternate explanations.

Re: Tire Problem and Vibration Issue Update

acuraddict,

I appreciate your update for those. Hope we get your reports soon.

PS. I was ever confused between you and "AcuraAddict", who seems to be 17 and pre-med qualified student. Now, I just know a little bit about your background. Hope you can bring us more leaking news.

New tires could potentially improve a lot of things: vibration, noise, steering feel...I'm looking forward to any future developments.

acuraddict, any news from the testing front? Curious to see if they found anything or offered any insight as to how they're going to proceed on this issue...

Thanks,
Jim
